Sending Email Via Telnet
Hi;
I tried this:
[root at mydomain ccc]# telnet 127.0.0.1 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to 127.0.0.1.
Escape character is '^]'.
EHLO
MAIL FROM: me at gmail.com
RCPT TO: me at gmail.com
DATA
testing from server

but I never get back to a command prompt. Please advise.

Dovecot not honoring configuration settings (auth failure)
My dovecot.conf has the following:
# No results when searching the wiki
disable_plaintext_auth = no
# http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication/Mechanisms
auth_mechanisms = plain login digest-md5 cram-md5
When I attempt to run imapsync, I receive an error:
Host2: <host> says it has NO CAPABILITY for AUTHENTICATE LOGIN
imapsync also dumps the helo string, and it is

Fwd: Disconnected (no auth attempts)
Hi,
Firstly, I'd like to apologise if this is really simple or the answers
available easily. I have searched and tried to solve this alone but with
no success.
I'm having an issue with dovecot to which its reporting "Disconnected (no
auth attempts)" in the info log file. From what I understand this is
usually due to SSL not being enabled (however, ssl = required is in the

Auto logging-out client
Hi list!
I'm writing because of an issue I'm having with my Postfix-Dovecot
installation. Everything's working fine but when an IMAP client is idle
for some time, Dovecot automatically logs it out.
Jul 26 14:01:16 mail dovecot: imap(nicolas at devels.es): Disconnected:
Logged out bytes=1271/7439
This entails errors when trying to send e-mails after this auto logout,
such as:
