One-way change
I''m developing an app, and I want to make a single boolean field OK to
change from 0 to 1, but not allow 1 to 0.
Seems like the model''s validate method would be the right place for
this, but I''m not sure how to implement it.
Any suggestions (actual or pointers to) are greatly appreciated.

anyone else seen this, or has my Firefox just decided to throw a massive
hissy-fit (as I strongly suspect).

MySQL seems to be the Windows of the database world. Broken, underspecced,

System Hang on busy NFS server
...ce is a full disk LVM (no partitions) and one large (36TB) data volume and the system is running CentOS 6.4 fully patched for OS and firmware.
Anyone have any hints as to what might be causing this. It looks to me like the system is starting to swap and then failing and then XFS starts to throw a hissy fit because it can't start allocating pages for it's buffers. Eventually then the system just deadlocks. I'm just looking for someone to confirm my findings and let me know if this is a bug or not.
I've posted the dmesg output onto pastebin http://pastebin.com/YQbhsN6a
Any help...

Likely has resubscribed to Fedora (if indeed even did quit), like on

Question driving external LCD from dell laptop
I have a dell inspiron 8200 laptop running centos 4.1 just fine.
I want to connect it to an external 32 inch LCD. This laptop is dual
boot windows.
I set windows up to 1024x768 and connected the LCD - it worked just
fine. LCD max is 1333x768
I then booted Centos 4.1 and set X to be 1024x768 also. rebooted the
laptop just ot make sure.
I then connected the LCD and it says can't display

General pre-processing prior to feeding sound to speex.
Hi,
I have speex running as a part of a voice conferencing app. Well, one
under development anyway.
I'm running VBR at quality 3 and get a "hissy-squelchy" background
noise. This is fine, kinda, because the internal microphone in the
laptop picks up hiss, the sound of the (actually very quiet) hard drive
and generally speaking is of less than exemplary quality.
To help disguise this I've been implementing various 'amplifier&...

Complex data structures in templates
Hi.
I wonder if it is possible to use more complex data structures in
templates than simple variables and arrays? I have been trying nested
arrays, as well as nested arrays and hashes, but nothing seems to work
(more specifically, nested arrays seem to be flattened into a single
array). Having only simple variables and arrays is a little limiting.
Something like the Perl-based Template Toolkit

domain user + local admin group
Howdy All,
My samba server has decided to throw a hissy fit and its quite distressing

To give domain users admin rights to their local machine I have in the
past simply made domain users part of the local admin group. Perhaps not
the most elegant solution , but it works.

newer smartctl?
...and the
controller in the server has issues, because it uses TLER:
http://hardforum.com/archive/index.php/t-1285254.html
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=14603.0
In short, if it hits an error, it can take, in extreme cases, up to two
min to recover; meanwhile, a RAID or HBA controller has hissy fits if it
takes more than 7 or 15 seconds.
I'm ready to test this out; the trouble is, either I d/l a DOS utility, or
I find what, two years ago, was bleeding edge smartmontools; the one with
6.2, 5.39.1-5, does not allows
smartctl -l scterc,70,70 /dev/sdb
So, does anyone know a) what versio...

ABX at q8
Hello!
First of all, 100x thanks to Monty and colleagues: you have done an
excellent job! I just didn't believe my ears when I first tested Oggenc
1.0 at q0 to q1 - it sounds AMAZINGLY GOOD !!!
But as HDD drives are getting larger and cheaper, most of us move toward
higher quality settings ......... I use q8, because:
- I was able to ABX some test samples up to q4.99
- at q8 Ogg is still

mailman and yahoo
so, supposedly mailman 2.1.16+ has a feature that allows you to
configure mailman lists so yahoo won't have a hissy with their new
implementation of DMARC.
http://www.spamresource.com/2014/04/up-in-arms-about-yahoos-dmarc-policy.html
has anyone packaged this as an RPM for CentOS 5 ? I currently have
mailman 2.1.9 from whatever repo it came from (probably base?)

rsync replication acl error
...er term, and runs
samba-4.3.13_2. samab-02 (DC2) and samba-03 (DC3) are the replacement DCs that
have been joined to the DOMAIN.
If I can be certain that everything need has indeed come across form DC1 to DC2
then I can start the process of moving the FSMOs. It may be that rsync is just
throwing a hissy fit over some non-essential flag. But I can hardly take that
chance on a live domain with only a single DC remaining.
Thank you for your time and attention.

Experiences with FoneBridge2 / TDMoE?
I'm scoping out HA for a relatively simple Office/Call Center PBX. Current
setup uses a TE412P with 4 PRI our telco with SIP hard/soft phones for
users. Some outbound also goes to a SIP provider.
Active/Active looks to be too much hassle for an installation this size, so
we're looking at adding an extra * in an active/passive configuration with
Linux-HA in between them.
Does anyone

Yaml Segfaults on ubuntu puppetd client
While running puppetd on a linux client I get the following, the
actual spot that the segfault happens varies, but it always happens.
This is on ubuntu with the stock apt ruby1.8.4 package. Puppet also
installed from apt. Puppet version 0.18.4
It seems very likely that this isnt a bug in puppet per se, but it is
tickling a yaml bug (regardless of where it fails, it is always yaml).
But I
