Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
Thank you. But I'm afraid I don't understand. The man entry reads: "--list-only This option will cause the source files to be listed instead of transferred. This option is inferred if there is a single source arg and no destination specified..." It doesn't say anything about "list remote files". In fact I am not sure why it would even contact the remote

Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
My apologies. I'm evidently not communicating very well. I am not asking for a list of what "needs to be transferred", I am looking for a list of those things that are "candidates to transfer". In other words, the source items minus exclusions/filters or anything else that will be ignored (by rsync). Is there any option for rsync that offers such a list? > find

Need subfolders - convert to Maildir & how?
I just installed Dovecot and it is working great. But I need subfolders. Does this mean I need to convert to Maildir format? I found several tools to do the conversion, but is there anything that needs to be changed in Dovecot to make the switch? Any advice appreciated. Thank you, Michael Hipp Heber Springs, AR, USA

Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
The output of --list-only isn't as I expected as regards symlinks. Here are my test files: $ ls ./src -rw------- 1 michael michael 0 2018-09-05 09:18:15 file lrwxrwxrwx 1 michael michael 4 2018-09-05 09:18:28 near_symlink -> file lrwxrwxrwx 1 michael michael 23 2018-09-05 09:19:05 far_symlink -> /home/michael/Documents The "destination" dir is empty: $ ls ./dest

SQLite and ext3 journalling mode
Hi, Are SQLite users that are worried about losing data that has been committed (fsynced) better off setting data=journal than data=ordered (or even data=writeback)? The context is trying to reduce the number of writes to a flash file-system without sacrificing data integrity in the event of a power failure or OS crash. Thanks, Dan Kennedy.

Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
How would it know what needs to be transferred without looking at both source and target? You are correct that it doesn't pay any attention to the target because it doesn't need a target. If the source is remote then it will connect to the remote to do a remote listing and if the source is local then no connection is needed but then neither is rsync. As far as obeying the recursive flag,

Purging /var/mail/username ?
Dovecot is delivering mail to my ~/.mail directory wonderfully. But /var/mail/michael is growing steadily. Is it the job of Dovecot to purge this file regularly? Is there a setting somewhere for this? Thanks, Michael

Output of --list-only not as I expected for symlinks
--list-only is simply a way to list remote files when you only have access via rsync. It ignores the rest of the command line. You want --dry-run (--itemize-changes would be a good idea too). Streaming Hold Music
I've tried getting this running but mpg123 won't spawn. It spawns fine for the files but if I try streaming she doesn't work. I've tried with just about every stream at somafm.com w/o success. I can play them locally though. When I try to play them from the server from the command line I get: # mpg123 -s --mono -r 8000 -b 2048 http://160.79.128.40:8052 High Performance MPEG

mpg123 hangs on close, but plays fine.
I am running Asterisk CVS-04/16/03-18:57:13, and mpg123-0.59r It all sounds great and it plays at the correct pitch and speed. However at the end of the file it simply does nothing. It does not go on the the next step in the extension.conf nor does it hang up. It just sits there. During play I have two processes running for the mp3 stream: root 6300 6299 8 22:32 ?

MP3 Crashing Asterisk
Hi Users, I have a problem with some of my mp3 files. they crash the system (Asterisk 1.6.2.14 on a x86_64 running Fedora 13 ) when it tries to play them. Unfortunately the logs do not give me a clear fault or cause of crash but i can clearly see that ts because of the MP3 files. Its the way some files are encoded. Is there a way I can make it skip the files that can be played? I use the

Music on Music on Hold Distorted
Hi there, I just tried today's CVS: 4/23/2004 version and found a strange loise with music on hold. Basically, when on hold you hear very distorted music as if it was very loud. This is the exact same problem described last year at: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-April/009735.html http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-May/011688.html No answers on

No Audio from Console but mpg123 from shell works fine.
I get audio from mpg123 at the command line but when I load up asterisk and try to get audio from the console it looks like it's working, and even pauses like it is playing the file but there is no audio coming from the speakers. I have searched and looked through the archives and tried to fix this but I have had no success. This is an onboard Intel card (AC'97) and I also tried an SB

(Yet another) Music on hold problem and another...
Hi, I've recently installed Asterisk and have got the majority of it configured (what an excellent piece of software it is, too), but I'm having a couple of problems. The first one is with music on hold! I've downloaded and installed mpg123 as specified: ># whereis mpg123 >mpg123: /usr/local/bin/mpg123 It's the correct version: >#

Music on Hold
Does anybody have a good source for hold music? I can see a number of companies on the web that sell royalty-free MOH, but they don't all provide samples. The customer service desk has requested "calming, not sleeping, but calming" and "this is a high-tech company, so make it 'techie' [sic]". Thanks, --Ernest
