I have RH 8 running on a Abit BE7-RAID motherboard. My task is installing Centos 4.1 with limited knowledge on installing with hardware RAID. The arrays are still in place for the two pairs of drives. HighPoint only shows drivers up through RH 9. Is there anyone who can take me through the steps? Remove the existing arrays? oops. I successfully installed RedHat 8.0 onto two ATA133 80gig drives running a mirrored RAID with the hpt37x (highpoint 372 onboard RaidController on the SOYO DRAGON motherboard.) Hello, I know that this card has support in FreeBSD but I'm curious if anyone has used them under heavy load in a RAID-5 configuration. We're thinking of equipping two of these cards with 8 120GB Hitachi drives and run it in an RAID-5 array for video material. The usual data streams will likely be 2-3 streams at about 5-20MB/s (totally) and I know that a single drive will handle that,

There's no need for anything fancy really, as long as I can create a single big software-raid on it at CentOS install-time. Hello all, I've installed samba on pretty basic install on centos 4.4. I'm running a P4 2.8Ghz, 1G Ram, Raid 5 SATA-2 disks running on both a 3ware and Highpoint Rocket raid (this is going to get swapped out for a 3ware card soon). When users copy files from a mac os x client I'm seeing the cpu load avg (in top) get up to 7. These copies included 150+Gigs of lots of smaller files inside lots of directories. Hi, My Centos 5.2 server (5.1 suffered the same problem as well) has a logical volume on a RAID 10 array (4 SATA harddisks on a Highpoint RR2310 controller). /etc/fstab has an entry for this array as below /dev/raid_vg0/raid_lv0 /mnt/raid ext3 defaults 0 0 Normally it works OK.
