Creating a correlation Matrix
...on how to go about creating a correlation matrix. I have
a huge amount of data....21 variables for 3471 times. I want to see how
each of the variables correlate to each other. Any help would be
appreciated, including which package and which functions I should use to do
this.
Thanks,

using RODBC
I am trying to bring data into R from an excel spreadsheet in order to
perform several statistical tests on it. I was trying to use
odbcConnectExcel in the RODBC package. Once I am connected to the excel
file, how do I select rows and columns from the file in order to analysis
them in R.

Calling rcmd.exe from a CGI
...exe but that wasn't enough to resolve the problem.
Are there any other required environment variables for rcmd.exe?
I know there are other ways to interace R to a browser but I am currently
restricted to the scheme described above.
Thanks in advance and I'll summarize any responses,
Rick Higgs

eigen vector question
Sorry to bother everyone, but I've looked in all of the help files and
manuals I have and I can't find the answer to this question. I'm doing
principle component analysis by calculating the eigen vectors of a
correlation matrix that I have that is composed of 21 parameters. I have
the eigen vectors and their values that R produced for me but I'm not sure
how to tell which

searching through a matrix
I am trying to search through a matrix I have (x) to see if there are any
missing values. This is what I have been using:
for (i in 1:3455)
for (j in 1:24)
if (is.na(x[i,j])) break;
i
j
When I run the program, it either freezes or stops and returns the last
entry in the matrix (x[3455,24]). I need to figure out what values in my
data matrix are missing because I am using prcomp

dr ()
Hi all--
A quick question about the dr () function. I am using this function to
reduce the dimensions of a data set I have that involves 14 predictor
variables and one predictant or response. The goal is to discover which
variables play the most important role in determining the response and,
thus, to reduce the variables. I would like to use the sliced inverse
regression method (SIR) within

KVM Setup for Win7 Pro on CentOS 5.x
Can somebody point me to a HowTO or other documentation describing the
tools available under the CentOS 5 KVM package to create and manage a
Windows 7 Pro VM? All my VM experience to date has been the old free
VMware Server.
I need to:

...e coefficients. (yes, stable using double
precision, even though not as stable as lm(). it works just fine with
X variables that have >99.99% correlation with as few as 100
observations. if your situation is worse than this, you probably have
an error in your data---or you are looking for the Higgs Boson.)
I added the code below. feel free to ignore.

Problems compiling (configure) R on Ubuntu linux (debian)
Hello!
I would first like to appologice if this question does not fit on this
mailing-list.
I am new to Linux and I tried to compile R on my Ubuntu Warty linux. I
followed the instructions in "R Installation and Administration" manual. It
seams that there was a problem with "configure", since when running "make"
afterward gave me this reply:

Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows
solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing
comment:

become ubiquitously implemented
