timezones not properly reflected on timestamps of files
...ll have the Linux local timestamp on it, on the NT
server, even if that time is in the future from the point of view of the
local server.
1. I have run zic -l GB to set up timezones properly on the Linux box
and see the TZ is properly set.
[root@lnxuk1 /root]# zic -l GB
[root@lnxuk1 /root]# exit
[hieb@lnxuk1 hieb]$ echo $TZ
GMT
[hieb@lnxuk1 hieb]$ sh -c 'TZ=UTC0 date'
Fri Dec 4 19:04:04 UTC 1998
[hieb@lnxuk1 hieb]$
(note Linux is running in the UK, five hours ahead of the server)
2. The time and timezone is properly set on the NT boxes, and seems to
be recognized as such by samba.

FW: SUGGESTION: allow TZ to be specified at time of mount (PR#124 25)
...I
would love to find a way to get the directories mounted with the linux
TZ vs NT TZ adjustment applied.
Thanks for your attention to this problem.

documentation someone can point me towards. Asterisk 101, if you will.
I have *@home running on an old PC, but don't have a clue where to

How to start smb server when reboot?
Hi,
I installed Samba 2.0.3 on Linux 2.2.5. Every time I reboot system I found
the smb has not been started. But in the directory /etc/rc.d, the file "smb"
exists. When I run "smb restart",after a while, the samba server is ok. I
wonder why the samba server is not up when system reboot. Thanks a lot.
Followed is the content of the file "smb":

MS Visual Developer and Samba
I am running samba-2.0.3-8 on Redhat 6.2 in five global locations. All
are fine except one. In this location when a user runs MS Visual
Developer they are able to open, save compile and edit files just fine.
However when they type either [Enter] or [Bkspc] to add or delete a
line, in this case only MSVD hangs for several seconds. Insert several
lines and wait 1+ minutes!!! I have watched the

Shared directory name length
Running Samba 2.0.3 on RH 6.0 serving public directories for guest
access. I cannot seem to give the share directories name which exceed 12
characters. If I do, I can see the shares in Explorer but if I try to
access them I get and "Access Denied" error. Same result with dir from a
command window. I see nothing in the documentation. I know the obvious
answer is short share names but

smbmount intermittent problems
I use smbmount to mount a number of NT shares from around a global network
in order to sync from a master distribution which resides in linux.
Specifically...
uklnxsrv$ smbmount //NTSRV/share -c 'mount /tmp/temporary_mount -u 502 -g
510' -U guest%guest_passwd
Frequently it works well, but from time to time the mounted NT share, for
lack of a better word gets corrupted. Here are the
