Hiding Files in Samba
I may need a strong shot of coffee but I though putting "hide files = /~*/" as follows in the samba config file would hide files with a tilde. [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes hide files = /~*/ Unfortunately after restarting the server the files are still visible. Regards, Vandaman.

Unknown boot option `pciback.hide=(09:04.0)': ignoring
Good morning, I need to use pciback.hide to hide a pci card because I want to pci passthrough that card to a domU. My hardware neither supports Intel-Vt-d nor AMD's IOMMU. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work in Centos 54 anymore. I guess it doesn't work because it is not compiled into the kernel, but as a module. I got the following error in dmesg and the pci device is still

hide dotfiles not working.
Just started with Samba a few weeks ago so am still a newbie. Am serving a single W-95 client reasonably well - it allows users to log on using their unix id and passwd, and they can all browse their unix home directories. However .... I can't seem to get the "hide dotfiles" directive to work. Nor the "hide files"! Also, If a user on W-95 saves a file to unix called,

"hide unreadable files" also hides readable files
Hello We have a Samba 3.0.11 Fileserver running on Solaris and joined to an Active Directory. I have shares, with many directories, and I want to hide the directories, people are not allowed to access anyway. So I engaged the "hide unreadable files" option. This basically works. The Problem arises, when the user is logged on locally (not authenticated to the Domain) and mounts the

"hiding" and "vetoing" files (for Samba 2.2.2 & Windows Explorer)
We're running Samba 2.2.2 on an RS/6000 (AIX 4.3.3) using Windows 95 clients. We've tried the "hide files" and "veto files" option in smb.conf, but when the shares are mapped, we can still see the contents in Windows Explorer. We used the wildcard for all the contents of the shares (ex. hide files = /*.*/). The Samba manual only makes reference to Windows 98, so

Hiding shares and/or their contents from Windows Explorer
Is anyone of aware of any known problems with Samba 2.2.2 and Windows 95, dealing with hiding shares and/or their content from Windows Explorer? We need to map these shares so our application can function properly...but the shares and/or their content should never be accessible via Windows Explorer. We have browseable = no for the shares. We also tried the "hide"option, but the
