Migration of 2 samba3 PDC+OpenLDAP in one new Samba4 AD
...using RODC with partial success: RODC join, user and
machine account preload (with corresponding patch), dns update throught
netlogon service on RWDC, connexion when RWDC is disconnected. It has
been running in production in our datacenter for webapp authentication
for months, albeit with some hicups. I has never been completly fine
from a stability and reproductibility point of view, and I switched it
back to RWDC earlier this week....
Thanks,
Denis

should trixbox system hang when ISP drops connection?
NEWBIE alert: i'm a linux person, not an asterisk person so i'm
certainly capable of handling any linux-flavoured solution you can
suggest. here's a note i got from a local company i know (some proper
names removed):

Now and again our ISP goes down and when it does give us a hicup, the
Asterisk system shuts down (not very forgiving). When it shuts down

Do you need a real AD RODC for that case? Or do your services just need
to retrieve information via LDAP from AD? In the last case, you can
setup a...

blocky issue here with libtheora 1.1 20090806 (Thusnelda)
this sample is very blocky, the older version seems to do much better
and less blocky video. i'm not sure if my 1.9ghz 1 gb ram is the problem
here or the encoder has hicups on this new libtheora 1.1 20090806
(Thusnelda). please advice how to fix this or should i use the older
version. this encode was 2 pass with horrible output.

Graceful stop in, timeouts out (for now)
Hey Luis,
Just implemented the first cut at a graceful stop setup. It seems to mostly
work except for a few hicups here and there which I''ll test out. I''ve
tested this under OSX and will test on the other platforms soon.
To use it take a look at the examples/simpletest.rb and see how I setup an
"INT" handler to call HttpServer.stop.
Hopefully this will help with your win32 service...

[2] Re: How Samba let us down
Regarding tests you can perform on the windows side:
A couple of months ago, a samba user wrote in this group explaining
that the easiest way to reproduce op-lock break timeouts was to select
10 or 20 so MS Word files and open them all once. (I've tried multiuser
test programs which lock regions, write CRC'ed data and checks it etc,
but I can't find anything that beats MS Office

Migration of 2 samba3 PDC+OpenLDAP in one new Samba4 AD
Hello,
i have question about samba3 migration.
I have 2 distincts sites whith samba3 PDC+OpenLDAP running on each site.
On Site1, the machines accounts are specifics, same for the Users and
Groups except 1 group that is common with Site2 (The Teachers).
Today, each site is independant,
Now, i would like a create a new domain Samba4 AD whith all machines and
users from site1 and site2 together.

core 2 duo motherboards and centos 4
from my googling around, it doesn't look there is a single motherboard
that supports core 2 duo and works without patches or tweaks. is that
true? the main thing we want is:
core 2 duo support
4g of 800mhz (or better) ram
sata
gig ether with pxe boot
we can live without pata or usb for a while.
we've tried intel 965 and asus p5b based boards with various levels of
ease of install,
