XCP Debian 7 - Routed mode
Hi everyone,
I just got a brand new server by Hetzner.de. The thing is, when you
have additional IP, to use routed mode (precisely a subnet of IP,
story of exposed MAC in their data center etc.) Bridged mode is NOT
possible for getting connectivity in VM''s.
Traditionally, I''m more confident with "standard" Xen setup, so i...

assigning a single IP to the guest with "typical" hosting provider
I have a server with a hosting company, Hetzner.
The servers at this hosting company have a public IP, let's say,
A.B.C.D/255.255.255.x.
Additionally, one can order extra IPs like below:
1) additional subnet (let's say X.Y.Z.0 / 28)
2) single IP (let's say, E.F.G.H)
With additional subnet, assigning the IP to libvirt guest is s...

xen domU ID and static routing
Hi,
I use a EQ 4 dedicated root server by hetzner with ubuntu jaunty. I
installed xen 3.3 with debian kernel and brought up 3 domUs.
Now comes networking...
Hetzner does not allow bridged networking so I have to use routed mode
in xen. No Problem so far, but the Problem actually is:
When I bring up a domU the routing table is created by the xen-...

WebDav Support.
Hi guys,
I read that mongrel supports the webdav protocol. I need to "create" the
webdav files and allow a third party app access it just for read purposes.
What do you recommend?

recv vs. read in HTTPRequest#read_socket
...secs. and using Socket#recv takes about 9 secs on an 8.5 mb file). I
have been having trouble discovering the difference between read &
recv (I am not a socket developer by any means). Can anybody tell me
what sort of safety one loses by doing this with recv instead of read?
Thanks.

multi threaded theoretically useful?
So here''s a random question: if a (Ruby) multi-threaded rails server could
exist (bug free), would it be faster than using a mongrel cluster?
(I.e. 10 mongrel processes versus 10 Ruby threads). I''m not sure if
it would. RAM it
might save, though. Any thoughts?

computer stalls instead of reboot
Hi,
I''m still seeing a very strange issue here. First, let''s clarify that
the issue has never occurred with the good old xen 3.x and the good old
2.6.18 kernel.
So the issue is, that with xen 4.x (including 4.1.1) pretty much any
kernel (including kernel from [1] and vanilla 3.0.0, didn''t test the
2.6.18), the machine freezes during a reboot. The machine won''t

Xen private network across multiple physical servers
...have setup the Dom0 instances and the vm''s can
access to the other guests inside the same server.
Now my question is how can the guests reach the other guests that are
located in other physical servers.
Here is a diagram of how the network looks:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7837074/Hetzner-Network.png
The servers are in the same subnet given by the provider(I rented the
servers with Hetzner, who doesn''t allow bridging virtual interfaces)
Any advice/link about how could I configure this? Is there any solution
that doesn''t involve creating iptables rules for each vm?...

Networkfilters in Routed setup
Hello!
Since i could not find any information on the internet about this subject, i'm going to try my luck on this list.
I'm trying to setup network-filter on a routed setup. I have a root-server at Hetzner, a german hosting provider.
Along with my server i ordered a (/28) subnet to be able to setup dedicated IPs for my virtual machines (KVM).
My Server is running Ubuntu 12.04 with libvirt 0.9.8 . Since Hetzner does not allow any bridged traffic, i had
to setup a routed network. Currently my (via libv...

byte-range requests
Hello everyone,
I did some initial tests and it seems that mongrel does not support
byte-range requests. Is this correct?
The reason I ask is that the iPhone requires byte-range requests to
work in order to stream audio or video from a web server.
Thanks in advance,

10.0-BETA3 em/nfe drivers on MSI K9NBPM2-FID board. LAN card changes.
Hi,
I have a server at Hetzner and something strange happend.
First, I installed FreeBSD 10.0-BETA3 (amd64) via their FreeBSD
9.2-RELEASE rescue system, that's ok.
I had to configure the network by using the em driver -> em0 interface.
But suddenly, the network was lost.
After an ACPI reboot, nothing. Going to the vKV...
