--delete option not working
...directories and the files not on
the source machine are still on the destination. Needles to say this
is filling up the target disk very quickly.
I searched the archives and couldn't find any similar problem. Hard
to beleive I am the first to encounter it.

getent returns HEX number instead of username
Not for all users but for some.
I'm using samba 3.0.20 running on Fedora Core 3. Security = ADS,
winbind works and getent passwd returns local unix accounts plus the
domain accounts as expected.
It also returns a lot of entries like:
6811ff15281f4d19bdc:x:18004:10000:Anel Susana
Esquivel:/export/private/6811ff15281f4d19bdc:"/sbin/nologin"
I suspect these are accounts in a

Replacing Windows account with local account.
OK, I'm stumped.
I have a Samba server (v3.0.20a) with security=DOMAIN and using winbind
to authenticate non-local users against a W2K domain controller. This
setup happily serves out home directories and about six other shares.
I need to add a local UNIX account for a formerly Windows only user.
When I try useradd I get: user <username> exists. This makes sense
becasue of winbind.

Cannot get logged in using Server=DOMAIN
I have an FC3 intallation with samba-3.0.10-1. I cannot get it to accept
a login with server=DOMAIN. I can join the domain with no problem:
# net rpc join member -U scarville
passwd:
Joined domain TOTALFLOOD.
I can browse the shares:
$ smbclient -L amazon
added interface ip=192.168.124.230 bcast=192.168.124.255 nmask=255.255.255.0

Downgrade from 3 to 2 suggestions
After considerable experimentation I'm forced to accept that Samba 3 has
problems with the combination of being a domain member, the 2.6 kernel,
and Dell 2850 hardware. It works fine on the 2.4 kernels but fails on
all the 2.6 versions I have avaialble for testing. I have one machine
that I really prefer could stay at 2.6 so my last resort there is to try
a downgrade to samba 2.X

Everything but [Homes] works
I am migrating from my "old" 2.2.7 samba server to a newer server runnig
3.0.20a and everythig is working except the [homes] share. The server
(FILE-CABINET) is a member of the domain, security is set to ADS and, as
far as I can tell, kerberos is working. The program wbinfo returns a
list of users and groups like it should. getent passwd returns first my
local passwd file and then
