winbind joining domain problem
Over the past Month or so I've been having a hellaciously annoying problem with Samba and Winbind. I could joing a domin. wbinfo -t would tell me I had a good secret but when I did wbinfo -u it would only give me users from a trusted domain. From my own domain I'd just get some hex code. --- after looking up the hex code it turns out it sto...

Domain setup w/ RoR & Plesk
Hi all. I have Rails installed on a dedicated virtual server that''s running Plesk. I''ve been told by my hosting service that removing or altering Plesk''s default domain root folder (httpdocs) is likely to muck things up. So what''s my best option for setting up rails apps, given that I can''t create them as the domain root?

CentOS to reside near a NTFS system
Hello there, the *old* PC (Turion 64 MT-32 800MHz, 1Gb RAM) of my gf is running Windows XP, and I plan on installing a CentOS beside of it, allowing her to select the OS at boot-time. Other system/OS installing options are not retained, please avoid ;-). My first attempt was to install the CentOS7 GNOME-Live on a USB flashdisk and to boot it on the machine. It was either freezing at grub stage

new "large" fileserver config questions
Hi all, I was recently charged with configuring a new fairly large (24x3TB disks) fileserver for my group. I think I know mostly what I want to do with it, but I did have two questions, at least one of which is directly related to CentOS. 1) The controller node has two 90GB SSDs that I plan to use as a bootable RAID1 system disk. What is the preferred method for laying out the RAID array? I

...he A8 support is subsumed in there? I *do* understand the point you made about the multiple issue not having the problem of interfering dependencies, but I'm not sure it means that A8 support would be included in A9 support. For school once, I wrote a CPU emulator, and it had multiple issue. RAID 6 - opinions
I'm setting up this huge RAID 6 box. I've always thought of hot spares, but I'm reading things that are comparing RAID 5 with a hot spare to RAID 6, implying that the latter doesn't need one. I *certainly* have enough drives to spare in this RAID box: 42 of 'em, so two questions: should I assign one or more hot spares, and, if so, how many? mark

My goal is to have Cortex-A9 support complete in far less than three months. I've recently gotten some additional help toward that goal, so the pace should pick up soon. As far as compiler texts, there are many newer texts to recommend as just about all the major optimization passes are done differently after SSA-form appeared in about 1991. However, for adding Cortex-A8 support, I don't
