STI and ActiveRecord attributes unprotected
Hi, This does not seem to be covered anywhere. Since base class extends ActiveRecord with a table that has fields for all heirs, would that mean that any heir class can access any of those attributes, including ones that belong to other heirs? Or I am missing something? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Soundpoint IP 430 -- discontinued.
Hey, all. I'm in the middle of a rollout, and just learned that the SoundPoint IP 430 -- my favorite mid-range phone -- has been discontinued. The heir apparent is the SoundPoint IP 450 -- for a low, low, low $130 more/handset. AND it doesn't look as nice. Ouch. Does anyone have any recommendations -- Polycom or otherwise -- for a good-quality, mid-range, two-line SIP phone (with good speakerphone) for ~$150/ea.? I realize that there are s...

NUT, USB, OpenIndiana
I'm about to deploy en OpenIndiana (the heir of OpenSolaris) box as my main iSCSI backend. However, all attempts at getting NUT 2.6 to work with my usbhid-ups cyberpower has resulted in the driver going down with a segmentation fault. Is there a known problem with nut+usb+openindiana (opensolaris), or am I just doing something wrong? //Svei...

Fwd: [RFC] Improved versioned pointer algorithms
...t: O(versions) This is mainly about CPU time rather than filesystem efficiency. The real time performance will be dominated by disk operations as usual. Snapshot write is a frequent operation and snapshot delete is performed on large amounts of metadata at a time, so it would be nice to improve their performance to be independent of the number of versions created. O(exceptions) orphan test ------------------------- It is only the orphan searches that increase snapshot write and snapshot delete running times from O(exceptions) to O(versions), otherwise the main algorithm is already O(exception...

command line edit
Does anybody know a way to edit your command line arguments on the command line, other than deleting everything and re-typing? My user just want to be able to use emacs like commands - like you can do in a shell, and s-plus from what he says. I attempted to set up the emacs add-on, without much success, on a Solaris 7 box, but he doesn't really want that, he just wants the command line

Samba using Domain Contollers with SP4 applied
Has anyone with security = server tried to authenticate against a NT server that runs Service Pack 4 yet? I have not tried yet, but there are some changes that may effect this such as SAM format changes and secure channel integrity checking. Any feedback on this would be appreciated. Bill

...ng looked fine. Now I have just noticed that when "touching" or creating files everything behaves strangely, that is the date is not created as it should. In the remote directory, I have some cpp files created and the related executable. Samba 2.0.6pre1 released
I've just released a snapshot of 2.0.6 in the alpha directory on samba.org. This is intended for testing to make sure some of the recent changes work well on a wider range of sites. I have also built a RedHat Linux 6.X RPM and put it in the same dircetory. If you are not running a mission critical site then we would appreciate feedback on this snapshot. If you have reported a bug in Samba

Samba and logrotate from Redhat
Has anyone had any success in getting Samba to correctly restart logging to the log files with the default logrotate setup (or even a modified one) from RedHat? The default setup is to move the files to another location, create a new file for Samba to fill, then send the daemons a HUP signal. I've tried some of the options that can be used in the logrotate.d/samba file (nocreate and
