using so-library involving Taucs
Dear R developers,
The trace of the hat matrix H~(n,n) is computed as follows:
tr(H) = tr(BS^-1B') = tr(S^-1B'B) := tr(X) = sum(diag(X))
with B~(n,p), S~(p,p).
Since p is of the order 10^3 but S is sparse I would like to employ
Taucs linear solver ( http://www.tau.ac.il/~stoledo/taucs/ ) on
SX = B'B.
(Further improvement by implying a looping over i=1,...,p, calling

Problem running Windows Notepad under Wine
Gentlefolk,
I need to give someone the ability to create Windows-format text
documents, which I can then copy (via SMB) to a W2000 machine for
further processing. I've got the file-sharing up and running, and Wine
installed and running Windows Notepad OK, but I've hit a snag trying to
set it up to load Notepad automatically when the file-icon is clicked :-

these are vdsm-hooks, they run on the host, not on the engine (manager).
the engine does allow you, if

PDC & file server on same machine?
How much of a resource hog is a PDC? My understanding is that authentication
is done vs a BDC if available. I configured my new file server as the domain
PDC because I figured it would already have to run samba. I have two other
machines configured as BDCs to serve as logon servers.
I'm looking for opinions on whether I'm asking for performance problems by
making my file server the

It doesn't seem to say how to actually download the files. Can anybody

samba4 & ldap?
I am confused... Using an ldap server as a backend for samba4 is not
recommended? We are primarily a linux shop. We have an ldap database we use
for authentication. I can't use that anymore if I switch to samba4?

One thing that a lot of people here do is set up an on-line form that sends

[PATCH v2 0/2] add FreeIPA offline unenrollment (RHBZ#1789592)
This patch series adds a new virt-sysprep operation to offline unenroll
a guest from FreeIPA. It does so by removing some configuration files
and certificates.
Changes from v1:
- the other patches were pushed, as unrelated and approved
- created a new kerberos-hostkeytab operation
Pino Toscano (2):

Actually I am using the Backend Idmap_AD. I thought Idmap_adex is still under heavy development.

filesystem of choice?
I'm setting up a new linux fileserver and I was wondering if samba likes
one filesystem more than another. I have to format a 1.8Tb partition
sometime today and I'll probably do ext3 unless samba prefers something
else.
We have a lot more linux users than Windows users but the Windows users have
more problems with slow access.

Re: HA: Accessing iSCSI disc images from the RHEV Manager using libguestfs
Thanks, Itamar. Hooks are really great tool.
No doubt we will use them.
But I still need some clarification about interaction between hooks (on the manager's side) and libguestfs (on the side of hypervisor/storage).

Thanks a lot. Yes, we have a Support and we will ask them to help with this bug.
How do you think, maybe we can hack this issue quickly just putting the kernel file (desired by libguestfs) manually to some directory on the RHEV-H file system? /boot and /lib/modules do not contain kernels on RHEV-H.
