CODA vs. BOA discrepancy
Dear List:
the CODA and BOA packages for the analysis of MCMC output yield different
results on two dignostic test of convergence: 1) Geweke's convergence
diagnostic; 2) Heidelberger and Welch's convergence diagnostic. Does that
imply that the CODA and BOA packages implement different ``flavors'' of
the same test?
I paste below an example.
Geweke's test

INIT: Id "x0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Hello,
I''m running a SLES10 SP1 Server as a Dom0 and as DomU.
I have allocated 1024 Mb RAM to the DomU and one virtual processor (physical processor is a dual core Intel Xeon 3.4 Ghz).
A warning is regularly displayed on the standard output :
INIT: Id "x0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Any idea where that come from ?
Thanks in advance.

Problem with yppasswd ans openssh on Irix
Hi,
I compiled openssh 2.1.1p1 on Irix 6.2 with MIPS 7.2.1.2m compiler. All
works fine except the yppasswd command from Irix (it's no NIS-problem,
same with rlogin works):

How do I compute interactions with anova.mlm ?
Hi,
I wish to compute multivariate test statistics for a within-subjects repeated measures design with anova.mlm.
This works great if I only have two factors, but I don't know how to compute interactions with more than two factors.
I suspect, I have to create a new "grouping" factor and then test with this factor to get these interactions (as it is hinted in R News 2007/2),

colour palettes in biplot
biplot could benefit from allowing colour palettes,
eg. allowing col=list(xcol= xxpal, ycol= yypal) where xxpal and yypal
are palettes.
For an example, see the robust pricipal components in the principal
componetent section of
<http://www.statlab.uni-heidelberg.de/data/olive/olive10.pdf>
The required change is to replace
col[1L] resp. col[2L] by col[1L]] reep. col[[2L]] for example in

Login Scripts Win95/WinNT
We want to use simple DOS login scripts with Samba.
Our Samba server is a Sun sparc station running under Solaris 2.6,
our clients are both Win 95 and Win NT 4.0 workstations.
We set up our Samba server with user level security and configured
everything according to the Samba documentation. The Samba server is acting
as WINS server and domain masterbrowser, there is no Win NT server in our

/etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem erased by OpenSuse's update mechanism
Hi,
this is not a genuine Dovecot bug, more a nuisance.
It applies to OpenSuse 13.2 but maybe also to other Linux's.
The standard installation of Dovecot (especially 10-ssl.conf) places the
certificate dovecot.pem in /etc/ssl/certs.
Sometimes during updates does OpenSuse renew all certificates in /etc/ssl/certs
and erases dovecot.pem. This blocks further access to the mailbox.

Hi there again,
I have a problem with the "parse"-command.
First of all, I show you in a simplified way, what I am trying to do and what "R" answers:

> mode(test)
[1] "character"
> ausdruck <- parse(text = test)

remote subnet browsing and NT4.0SP3
Hello,
I have a samba 1.9.18p4 server running as a domain master browser on a subnet,
with some clients distributed on other subnets.
If there are only Win 95 clients on a subnet, browse sync works - but not if
there are Win NT 4.0 SP3 machines on that subnet.

Dualboot CentOS and Windows
Hi,
I have to install CentOS on a spare partition of a laptop with
Windows pre installed. Is there anything I have to watch out for?
Couldn't find anything in the wiki or does the installer handle this
well without me doing some magic, or so?
TIA,
Frank.
