how do you test (nagios) that upsmon is connected?
thank you all for your input. Roger, I'm a nut noob and only marginally
understand the implementation (from your other email), but I really like
the idea of a heartbeat and design wise it makes a lot of sense. I'll see
if I can implement it some time soon.
thank you,
Spike

About quorum and fencing
...OR,
* it sees an even number of heartbeating nodes and has network
connectivity to at least half of them *and* has connectivity to
the heartbeating node with the lowest node number."
So if I turn off the switch in a two node cluster, each node will see
two nodes heatbeating and will also see that it has connectivity to half
of them (itself). The one with lowest node number will fullfil the
quorum condition and stay alive. The other one will fence.
If I have a three node cluster, however, and turn off the interconnect
switch, none of my nodes will fullfil the quorum c...

rsync dead loop (almost) forever in read_timeout() if remote host down
Hi All
This can be reproduced easily. run rsync under gdb and set a break point
at read_timeout(). then after rsync talk with remote rsync daemon and
stop at this function, turn off remote machine directly. then let rsync
run and it will run forever in this function.
if we just kill remote rsync daemon, it is fine and quickly detected,
because OS do clean up work. But if power off the box

Realtime +Mysql +Failover
Hoping someone out there has run into this or has some ideas for us.
We currently have asterisk set up with Realtime (using mysql) for its
extensions,sip and voicemail files.
The problem we are trying to solve, is one of a failover mechanism. What
if our mysql server went down.
Can Realtime be set up with a secondary mysql server to get its data
from. We can set up mysql to sync with its fellow

for this process is "root", that is correct. The PID 7247 is one of the
users, but the UID shouldn't be "root" and should be the username that was
authenticated during logon.
Anyone have same or similar problem? and how do I prevent this problem
from happening again? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Slow concurrent actions on the same LVM logical volume
Hi 2 all !
I have problems with concurrent filesystem actions on a ocfs2
filesystem which is mounted by 2 nodes. OS=RH5ES and OCFS2=1.2.6
F.e.: If I have a LV called testlv which is mounted on /mnt on both
servers and I do a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/test.a bs=1024
count=1000000" on server 1 and do at the same time a du -hs
/mnt/test.a it takes about 5 seconds for du -hs to execute:
