Squeezing every last drop of performance out of DirectX
...n't notice it. Windows of course runs TF2 without issue (it's like glass) but it's still choppy on Linux. I'm using the latest proprietary nvidia drivers as well.
I have found that passing the following options to TF2 definitely makes it run MUCH better (Steam-related options):
-heapsize 1048576 -dxlevel 81
Actually, to be precise, I'm running in windowed mode at like 1100 something by 940 (I think)? My monitor support 1280x1024 but I'm basically running at the largest I can such that it stays within the desktop without being overlapped by the top or bottom menu bars in...

Hi there,
I have just installed wine (release 20010305) and it looks to work good.
I can run notepad without trouble, winecheck.pl has one bad and one critical result:
023. Checking device needed for DGA (option "UseDGA"): /dev/BAD (/dev/mem is not writable for you).
- ADVICE: Use chmod as root to fix it ("man chmod").

[LLVMdev] -emit-llvm on ubuntu is broken
I try to generate a human readable .ll file on Linux. I installed llvm-gcc
but as I see it can generate only assembly code (-S option). Is there any
way to get something like what is generated by llvm online compiler?

[LLVMdev] using dsa
Thank you Patrick! For anyone interested, I was able to get the
mainline version of DSA to compile with the mainline version of LLVM.
As Patrick pointed out, the mainline version of PoolAllocate does not
compile with the mainline version of LLVM. So, I made a small change to
llvm-poolalloc/lib/Makefile in which I removed PoolAllocate from the line:

[LLVMdev] make error building llvm/clang 3.2 on Linux
I'm continuing this here in llvm-dev since the thread was started here,
but, in hindsight, it may have been better in cfe-dev, because the
problem seems to be related to clang.
I turned on "verbose" mode in make (VERBOSE=1 TOOL_VERBOSE=1) and found
that it is clang, not gcc, that is being used at this point in the make.
Based on the command issued (particularly with the --sysroot

Is the documentation for using Polly support in dragonegg correct? I built llvm/polly/dragonegg

with...
GCC=/sw/lib/gcc4.7/bin/gcc-4 LLVM_CONFIG=/sw/opt/llvm-3.2/bin/llvm-config ENABLE_LLVM_PLUGINS=1 make CPPFLAGS="-DENABLE_LTO -I/sw/include"
The resulting dragonegg plugin works fine

out of memory (java heap space) on zip creation (jruby)
I am using rubyzip and am trying to put a huge csv file with 1.4
million rows into the zip file.
Using jruby I get a out of heap error.
I believe the error happens in the block below:
Zip::ZipOutputStream.open(zip_path) do |zos|
zos.put_next_entry(File.basename(csv_path))
zos.print IO.read(csv_path)
end
