Headphones volume control not working in CentOS 7
Hi all,
I hope someone could enlighten me...
How could I resolve the fact that the volume controls of all the
headphones I try on CentOS 7 are not working, they are OK on CentOS 6
but impossible to make them work on my Thinkpad Laptop with an iPhone
headphones or a Marshal Monitor plugged with a jack connector...
Those 2 headphones work correctly in CentOS 6...
What could I do to get the same behavior on CentOS 7...

FLAC: headphones
hi flac list!
I'm not sure if this question can be asked here, but here you go (it's a
question for audiophiles only):
I encode CDDA tracks to FLAC and play them on my Pocket PC (PDA). I'm
looking for a high quality headphone to connect to my Pocket PC, but it must
be an in-ear one but not like these:
http://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/vanns/770045336?$medium_item$
So no plastic things must be inserted to the ears, it must be a flat surface
to put in your ears like these ones:

Mate and USB headphones
Logitech H540 headphones were working fine.
Suddenly stopped.
Sound Preferences says they are disabled but gives no hints on how to
enable them, or how they became disabled.
Tried rebooting, unplugging them, etc.
Anyone know what is going on?
This motherboard doesn't have onboard sound, this USB is my only optio...

OT: good headphones?
This is off-topic, mostly, but I figure you guys will have some knowledge in
this sound-quality-related area.
I'm sitting here looking at the most recent "Musician's Friend" at headphones
and thinking about getting a pair. They've got products from AKG, Fostex,
Audio Technica, Nady, Sennheiser, and Sony, at price points ranging from $16
to $130 (list prices $20 to $200). What should I expect to pay for a decent
pair of headphones? Any brands to avoid? I'd be using t...

Can you recommend some USB headphones
Or phones that work with Centos.
I am making headway on my SIP testing, but I need a a couple (or 3) USB
headphones or phones.
I remember back quite at time ago I had problems with one with volume
control (ie none!).
So I am looking for a cheap USB headphone or 'real' VoIP phone. I am
using SIP Communicator as my client.

7.3 and USB headphones
Hi all!
I wish to give huge thankyous to KB and all the others who worked
to get 7.3 out the door. Many thanks!
I have some good things and some bad. A good thing is that unlike
previous versions, when I plug in my USB headphones they are automatically
recognized and I get sound without having to change anything! (which is
a huge win from before when I had to mess with settings, sometimes for
a few minutes, to get headphone sound and microphone audio.)
The not so good thing is that I don't have any working volume

On my C7 Mate system I have what may be the same issue:
if the "sound preferences" app (aka Mate Volume Control) is already
running at the time the USB headphones are plugged in, the USB phones
appear as disabled.
OTOH, if...

Sound problem in Dell inspiron 1525
After installing CentOS 5.2 on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop, the sound was
inactive, I then installed Alsa-Driver, Alsa-utils, Alsa-plugins and
Alsa-libs the ATrpms site. The speakers then work fine, but when I plug in
headphones, the sound begins to fade out and eventually becomes completely
quiet. I have checked the Volume Manager and nothing is muted including the
Headphones volume, when I unplug the headphones the speakers are also quiet.
The sound card is a HDA-INTEL. Any suggestions and solutions?
NOTE: THE SPEAKERS...

How to connect with a headphone
Hello!
I am new to the list and got a simple question. Is it possible to connect
with a headphone to Asterisk on the same machine?
I tried a portrange 5060:5061 in sip.conf but that doesn't work. I can
connect with sjphone to an Asterisk on a remote machine only.
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
is there any chance to get a headphone working under a acer extensa 5220
with CenOS 5.2 (2.6.18-92.1.6.el5) installed? Maybe by centosplus or

alsa-utils-1.0.14-3.rc4.el5

usb headphones.
Hello:
There is a bug in PulseAudio that does not allow automatic switch
between computer speaker, and usb headphones.
I would like to add a page to explain how to get around it. I searched
online, and almost all of the posts are missing a lot of information.

...oduced significant ghost noise (much less than Vorbis did)...
I experience the "same" low level noise even in a wav file,
even on frequencies a bit higher, when playing on shitty enough speakers.
I don't think it is a relict of the compression (it cannot be, here).
Every speaker (or headphones) is designed for a certain frequency range.
Outside of that range, all bets are off. I wouldn't bother with what you
"hear" outside of the audible spectrum.
My current bet is that the very low frequencies are correctly
represented in the Opus file, but your speaker/headphones
