zfs hanging during reads
Hi, I hope there''s someone here who can possibly provide some assistance. I''ve had this read problem now for the past 2 months and just can''t get to the bottom of it. I have a home snv_111b server, with a zfs raid pool (4 x Samsung 750GB SATA drives). The motherboard is a ASUS M2N68-CM (4 SATA ports) with an Athlon LE1620 single core CPU and 4GB of RAM. I am using it

creating domU''s consumes 100% of system resources
Hello, I have noticed that when I use xen-create-image to generate an domU, the whole server (dom0 and domU''s) basically hangs until it is finished. This happens primarily during the creation of the ext3 filesystem on an LVM partition. This creation of the file system can take up to 4 or 5 minutes. At which point, any other domU''s are basically paused... tcp connections time

any 64-bit mini-itx successes
Is there anyone who has successfully put together a "high-powered" mini-itx ZFS box that would be willing to post their system specs? I''m eyeballing the KI690-AM2... http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/product/mb/pro_detail.asp?rlink=Overview&no=239 ...but am having a difficult time locating it and a suitable case currently. I was in negotiations with a hardware source,

7-disk raidz achieves 430 MB/s reads and 220 MB/s writes on a $1320 box
...oo: - 330-390 MByte/s seq. writes - 560-570 MByte/s seq. reads (what''s really interesting here is that the bottleneck is the platter speed of one of the disks at 81 MB/s: 81*7=567, ZFS truly "runs at platter speed", as advertised, wow) I used disks with 250GB-platter (Samsung HD753LJ; they have even higher density 640GB and 1TB models with 334GB/platter but they are respectively impossible to find or too expensive). I put 4 disks on the motherboard''s integrated AHCI controller (SB600 chipset), 2 disks on a 2-port $20 PCI-E 1x SiI3132 controller, and the 7th disk on...
