Correlate i/o with a process
Hello: I have a server with 2 HBAs, and the users keeps complaining about performance problems. My question is, how can I relate the process with high I/O wait? Also, is it possible to see how much data is being pushed thru by my 2 HBAs? TIA! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http:/...

[RFC] pv-scsi driver (scsiback/scsifront)
Hi all. We developped a pv-scsi driver that we refered Fujita-san''s scsi-driver and blkback. (see, http://www.xensource.com/files/xensummit_4/Xen_Summit_8_Matsumoto.pdf) The pv-scsi driver''s feature is as follow: * Guest has dedicated SCSI-HBAs of Dom0. * Guest can send scsi_cdb to the HBAs. * Guest recognises the HBAs from hostno of xenstore. Currentlly, We are developping FC version based on this. * Future work: * implement python code * performance tunning * attach, detach * suspend, resume * We are wondering about: *...

Any PCI passthrough success stories with SATA-RAID HBAs?
Just out of curiosity - searching for success stories has yielded no results - can anyone claim a success passing a PCI-(e) Raid Controller to a DomU and having it work over longer periods of time (month)? Really curious! _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

CentOS 8 LSI SAS2004 Driver
...;ve recently been given domain over a number of supermicro storage servers using Broadcom / LSI SAS2004 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Spitfire] (rev 03) to run a bunch of SSDs. I was attempting to do fresh installs of CentOS 8 and have come to find out that RedHat deprecated support for a number of HBAs for 8 including all running the SAS2004 chip. Does anyone know if there is a driver available for this chip from a third party repo? My google searches have led me to believe that EPEL 8 has a kmod-mpt3sas package but it does not seem to exist though multiple blogs have stated otherwise. If anyone...

ssacli start rebuild?
...e with the firmware to get it to stop trying to do clever RAID stuff, which lets you do smart RAID stuff like ZFS instead. I?m sure you can reflash LSI card to make it SATA or SAS HBA, or MegaRAD hardware RAID adapter. Is far as I recollect it is the same electronics board. I reflashed a couple of HBAs to make them MegaRAID boards. One thing though bothers me about LSI, now after last it was bought by Intel its future faith worries me. Intel pushed 3ware which it acquired in the same package with LSI already into oblivion? Valeri >> What has HP been thinking? > > That the hardware...

Storage Pools & nodedev-create specific scsi_host#?
...ther. High-level goals: - fence off I/O by providing NPIV paths to VMs individually - provide each VM with a pair of paths to the same storage for redundancy Problem 1 - Storage Pools: I've successfully created a storage pool by starting with an initial SCSI host based off one of my virtual HBAs. I see my LUNs. I performed a virsh pool-dumpxml and captured the configuration of the storage pool using just one SCSI host. I then modified the XML file to include a 2nd SCSI host, stopped & deleted the original storage pool, then created & started a new storage pool. In the GUI, I am...

LSI 3GB HBA SAS Errors (and other misc)
During the diagnostics of my SAN failure last week we thought we had seen a backplane failure due to high error counts with ''lsiutil''. However, even with a new backplane and ruling out failed cards (MPXIO or singular) or bad cables I''m still seeing my error count with LSIUTIL increment. I''ve got no disks attached to the array right now so I''ve also

Any rhyme or reason to disk dev names?
...n easy way to guess or identify the device names of disks. Previously the /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 system made sense to me... I had a SATA controller card with 8 ports, and they showed up with the numbers 1-8 in the "t" position of the device name. But I just built a new system with two LSI SAS HBAs in it, and my device names are along the lines of: /dev/dsk/c0t5000CCA228C0E488d0 I could not find any correlation between that identifier and the a) controller the disk was plugged in to, or b) the port number on the controller. The only way I could make a mapping of device name to controller por...

OCFS and multipathing
I've got my RAC cluster running pretty smoothly now (thanks again for all the help so far), but I only have single connections between the servers and the RAID array. The servers each have two Qlogic HBAs, and I'd like to find out if there's any reasonable way to implement multipathing. The platform is RHEL 3, and Red Hat's knowledgebase indicates that they strongly recommend against using the existing multipathing features in the Qlogic drivers (supposedly some bad failure scenarios ar...

How can I get the HBA and disk devices info out-of-band?
Hi, We know that the Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) for configuring and managing Emulex and QLogic Fibre Channel HBAs are included in the XenServer Host. Now suppose I want to configure and manage these HBAs out-of-band, say from some other virtualized or non-virtualized host. Is it possible ? If yes, then how? How to prevent loading qla2300.o module
...ze in advance as this is not really at CentOS specific issue, but I don't know where else to turn. We are configuring some Dell 1850s for a customer, and they have all been configured with a QLogic dual channel HBA. But no storage has been (or will be in the near future) attached to these HBAs. During the boot process (both for the kickstart and after the OS has been installed), there is a 2 minute delay (1 minute for each channel) while the qla2300.o module is loaded and the HBA probes for any attached storage. How can I configure the kernel to ignore the QLogic HBA? It's not...

File Server using ISCSI attached storage - Hardware HBA ?
Hi Everyone I am looking at setting up a File Server that uses ISCSI storage. It is the first time I have done this, so I am wanting to get peoples thoughts on whether for CentOS systems you should use Hardware based ISCSI HBA's? If so do I need to be careful about what HBA I use ? Currently I am looking at purchasing a Dell System using Broadcom ethernet cards/ ISCSI HBA. From
