How to disable tls on CentOS 5 with Xen 3.3.1?
Hi: I downloaded Xen 3.3.1 source from xen.org, compiled and installed it on CentOS 5. At first boot into xen, I got an error message about tls and told me to use "mv /lib/tls /lib/tls.disabled" to disable it. I issued that command after the first boot. And also tried to remove that directory to /root. But after that, I still got the same error message about tlsĀ  when booting into Xen.

[PATCH] Change default cpufreq governor to ondemand
...changes the default governor to "ondemand" which should make it the same as the Linux default and will provide power savings for the majority without needing to write a userspace governor. For those that want to install their own governor, that is still possible. Live migration not permanent?
Hi, I tried to do live migration from machine A to B. After the migration, machine A still had the record of the VM, though the VM was not running any more. Also, if I shut down the VM on machine B, its record on B would be gone --- I could not see it using "xm list" anymore. However, I can still start the VM on machine A using "xm start". Looks like the migration just move

converting full to para
virt-p2v was able to convert my centOS 5.2 physical machine to xen virtual machine and it runs great. Now, I am working on to convert this full virt machine to para virt . Under my domU i have installed kernel-xen (since it is needed ) , and edited my grub menu to use the installed kernel. More issues with xl on 4.1.0-rc
I have spotted another couple of bugs when testing with xl on 4.1.0-rc and a xen/next-2.6.38 based kernel. If I use pygrub as a boot loader and run xl create -c host then the console disconnects once pygrub is finished. I can reconnect to the console session but it is a bit annoying to have to do so. If I set vfb = [ ''sdl'' ] in the configuration file, then I can type in the

Xen guests clock is exactly 2 hours before dom0 time
Hi list, one and hopefully last strange thing I figured out ist the systime of my guests. Dom0 uses ntp for time syncronisation. I set the time on my guests manually but after reboot any machine (Windows server, XP, Freebsd, even PV Machines like ubuntu) all run local time - 2 hours. /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock is set to 0 so actually the time should be set by dom0...(?) RHEL6 beta vs. Xen
Has anyone yet figured out what it would take to make Xen run on top of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 beta? We are heavily invested in Xen under RHEL5 (actually a redhat clone) distribution, but already the xen kernel they are shipping with update 4 and 5 is shaky and has bugs which they don''t seem to be in a hurry to fix. Basically I am wondering if Redhat 6 is just going to have

what''s correct way of shrinking LVM based domU?
Hi all I want to shrink one of my LVM based domU''s, but don''t quite know how to do it. I have searched the Wiki & HOWTO''s, and they all show you how expand / enlarge a LVM based domU, but not shrinking it. So, I stopped (destroyed) the domU, and then resized it as follows: lvresize /dev/data/cpanel1 -L10GB (It was 100GB), but when I a started it up again, I

Dom0 won''t come up, Fedora 9
Trying to get Xen going on Fedora 9. Xen was installed from the distro RPMs. Xen version is 3.2.0 and the linux-xen version is 2.6.25.3. Xen seems to come up fine, but the system just hangs at the point where booting of Dom0 should start. There is absolutely no output from Dom0. I configured Xen to log to a serial port and captured the output below. Any suggestions on how to continue

Xen backups using LVM Snapshots
Hi all, I am running Xen 3.2-1 / 2.6.18 on Debian Etch (Dom0). I setup a Dom0 with several DomUs (Linux). Each DomU disk is a LV partition. I have been seeing a few mails about backups and LVM and just wanted to make sure that what I am doing is correct. Each DomU with a database has a cron that dumps the db with mysqldump. Later on, Dom0 will do an LVM Snapshot of all DomUs and then do a

A simple backup
All, I''ve got one Xen server running CentOS 5, with 3 CentOS virtual machines on it. I have what I hope is a simple question: I''d like to backup the virtual machines. I don''t care about anything but the ability to restore a couple of files and be able to be back up and running quickly. At some point I''ll have a spare server ready to migrate running Xen
