limiting the per-time connections from one single IP address
Hi every we had a havy pop3 attach yesterday morning: about 400'000 connects in three hours from one single IP address within wandadoo.fr. the easiest way, to protect the dovecot server against such attacks would be to limit the number of connections anyone can open from one single IP address to the server in a c...

drive recognition in EAC/wine
Hello all: I am using exactaudio copy (EAC) with wine on linux (suse 10.1) So far I had no problems with drive recognition. Recently I've attached another drive to the IDE 0 slave port and this drive is not recognized by EAC/wine. Here is my 'cdrecord dev=ATA -scanbus' output: scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) * 0,1,0 1) 'TEAC ' 'CD-W512EB '

strange ''too many errors'' msg
...use c4t4d0 AVAIL Strange thing is, that for more than 3 month there was no single error logged with any drive. IIRC, before u4 I''ve seen occasionaly a bad checksum error message, but this was obviously the result from the wellknown race condition of the marvell driver when havy writes took place. So I tend to interprete it as an false alarm and think about ''zpool ... clear c6t6d0''. What do you think. Is this a good idea? Regards, jel. BTW: zpool status -x msg refers to http://www.sun.com/msg/ZFS-8000-9P, the event to http://sun.com/msg/ZFS-800...

read only maildir subscriptions
Hello, I have some (possibly very simple) questions about subscriptions: I store my old mails in /home/oldmails/ in one Maildir where I have only read-only permissions (I cannot delete, create or modify any files). Under thunderbird, I can successfully log in and read my new mails, but I cannot subscribe (?) within thunderbird to oldmails (it is grey not black as other folders). What did I do

hi, i''m having here the problem with bonding and crcchecksum. So as i read the mailing list the solution is to run ethtool -K eth0 tx off inside domU. So my domU is reachable. All is fine. But after i migrate (live) the domU to another machine the complete domU stopped. Und I also had one time this ugly Zombie thing in xm list and couldn''t reboot the machine (only power

changing password on samba bdc
...OD id="cn=John Doe,ou=People,o=example,c=xx" new conn=327 op=10 RESULT oid= err=0 text= conn=327 fd=26 closed (connection lost) conn=328 fd=27 closed (connection lost) Case2: I login to Machine2 and invoke smbpasswd. However I get "Password changed for user jdoe", but quite havy problems emerge. From now on I can't login to Machine1 and Machine2 neither with smbclient nor with ssh (which uses POSIX data). Case2, the answer: Ldap debug logs claim that samba gives invalid credentials while trying to bind. Everything calms down when I "refresh" Sambaroot's...

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
...couple motherboards from different firms and what I figured out is the available Memory is not equal on every configuration. On some Platforms it's working out of the Box and on some ghost is complaining low memory. Other than this when I restore or save an Image with ghost 7.5 the server has a havy duty serving the client so that other clients having slower access to there shares. OK I thought, let's give NFS a try. But since the normal TCP-Stack from MS is not all to make NFS Happy, I need to load another MS-Utility called sockets.exe, only ca. 330K Mem left for operations. So I tried (...
