Font Issues
I recently installed Wine and have been using it to run Delphi executables. Everything is great except the fonts. My forms are made using Arial. I've been trying to install Windows fonts which I downloaded from sourceforge, I installed the cabextract tool but everytime I try to extract the msttcorefonts spec it says failed dependencies the cabextract tools is needed and it's already

Extlinux & PXE Booting...
Hi All, I have a situation where a remote network of computers that normally PXE boot Linux has been powered off so long, the BIOS boot order is forgotten, reverting to the HD only. With the machines PXE booted (manually) now thanks to a colleague, I have an opportunity to install Syslinux on the hard drive. I would like to install it on a small active partition, sda1, so that it then PXE

Extlinux & PXE Booting...
Thank you Paul for your suggestion. While implementing it, I found my error. As usual, it was an oversight of something already documented. When using MEMDISK for < 4MB images, {gpxe, ipxe}.usb files for example, you have to APPEND harddisk. Once that option was in place, I am now back to Syslinux perfection. I have to confess, this area of SA is some of the most fun, as it is a

Mapping CIFS/Samba problem
All, The Windows 2000 client is on my side of the firewall (the error message is: "remote computer is not available"), the Windows XP client is on the other side of the firewall, (the error message is: "The specified network name is no longer available"). I am able to ping both the IP address and server name of the CIFS/Samba server. I cannot perform the mapping, via Map

strange warning
Hi all, I am using an asterisk as a client to connect to another asterisk server by registering with the register string. Registration is done without any hassel, but after sometime my asterisk loses the registration with the server and the server starts displaying the following msgs repeatedly: [Aug 9 06:37:59] NOTICE[8380]: chan_sip.c:8151 check_auth: Correct auth, but based on stale nonce

dovecot 1.0-stable (050721) rpm for FC3
OK, thanks for the all the helps I got from the list. I finally managed to get stable 1.0 (050721) built and running. To avoid the same hassels for others, I made an rpm. You can check it out at http://linux.junsun.net/rpms My main motivation to upgrade to this version is to avoid the "Status: O" header re-write bug in 0.99 versions. Cheers. Jun

ISOLINUX / DVD-R question
Hello, I have been playing around with syslinux for the past few days and have found it to be very, very useful. I have run into a snag, though, and need some advice. I am trying to make a bootable DVD-R and have not had success. I can't get the system to recognize the DVD-R as bootable media. If I make a CD-R with the exact same linux filesystem, it boots just fine. My question for the

Hook-Flash on Voicetronix
I'm using a Voicetronix OpenSwitch12 with Asterisk. I need the ability to hook-flash a channel while a caller is on the line so I can transfer a call through a PBX. I need the equivalent of the FLASH() application, which only works with Zap channels. Does anyone know how I can hook-flash then send DTMF on a vpb channel? embedded Samba
...as their SMB protocol stack? I have seen new hard disk arrays ("the Snap It hard drive or something like that") which is supposed to be MUCH more reliable than actual "computer file servers" because it is just a hard drive with a small embedded OS and web administration. NO OS HASSELS... I really like our new Lexmark TCP/IP-network based printers, which are totally web administered... and I am wondering how rapidly the rest of the computer industry is going to move to this type of scheme. It seems to me that is the real "network computer" of the future that Sun keeps...

Speed problems with 2.0.6 and FreeBSD3.4-stable
Hi, I have a FreeBSD box and connected to i via 100Mbit ethernet I have a Windows98 computer using nat. I'm using Samba 2.0.6 to easy be able to copy files between the two. Using samba has always been slow. Just to give show how slow I made a test. I copied 3 files with a total size of 7.4 MB. When copying from FreeBSD to Win98 it took 6 min 42 sec. The other way took 24 seconds. Any idea

winbind joining domain problem
Over the past Month or so I've been having a hellaciously annoying problem with Samba and Winbind. I could joing a domin. wbinfo -t would tell me I had a good secret but when I did wbinfo -u it would only give me users from a trusted domain. From my own domain I'd just get some hex code. --- after looking up the hex code it turns out it stood for NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND or

Are centre coordinates or upper left corners used of x, y for SpatialPixels?
Dear all, I'm working with satellite images in R and plotting them via the code below. I was wondering whether coordinates (spatial["x"], spatial["y"]) are used as centre coordinates of the pixels in the GRID? In this script; spatial["x"] & spatial["y"] are the centre coordinates of the satellite image pixels. I'm asking this because some

PDC/Samba 3.0.6/tdbsam
I recently converted my Samba PDC from ldapsam to tdbsam as I was having too many problems with the ldap backend failing after a power outages. I now have a few questions regarding tdbsam: 1. Is there any GUI user administration tool that I can use in conjunction with a tdbsam backend? Usrmgr seems to function as user root on the domain, but does not seem very reliable. I'm looking for
