OK, thanks for the all the helps I got from the list. I finally managed to get stable 1.0 (050721) built and running. To avoid the same hassels for others, I made an rpm. Does anyone know if Samba is being used on embedded devices as their SMB protocol stack? I have seen new hard disk arrays ("the Snap It hard drive or something like that") which is supposed to be MUCH more reliable than actual "computer file servers" because it is just a hard drive with a small embedded OS and web administration. Hi, I have a FreeBSD box and connected to i via 100Mbit ethernet I have a Windows98 computer using nat. I'm using Samba 2.0.6 to easy be able to copy files between the two. Using samba has always been slow. Just to give show how slow I made a test. I copied 3 files with a total size of 7.4 MB. When copying from FreeBSD to Win98 it took 6 min 42 sec.
