samba: DEC UNIX password problem
I've just installed a new DEC Unix 4.0d machine and downloaded the binary
version of samba 1.9.18p8 for DEC Unix. I am able to get it up and running,
but I am having problems with passwords. I am being prompted for a password
when I try to connect to a non-public share, and when I type in my password it
is being rejected. I did set security=share in my smb.conf file. I also tried

Hi All,
Hey there is no reason to run icecast as root. So the easy thing is just

with??

Query Mixin by Duane Johnson
Hello
At the start of October, Duane Johnson announced the Query mixin plugin on
this list. The code was attached to the announcement email. Unfortunately,
I''ve not been able to locate the attached code. Goggle has not helped me
this time. Could somebody forward it to me?
Thanks in advance

OT: data from Harvey's book
Goodmorning, and sorry for the off-topic question.
Does anybody know if the data sets used in Harvey's book "Forecasting,
structural time series models and the Kalman filter" are available
online?
Thanks in advance,
Giovanni

caching of javascript and stylesheets
Is there a standard way to make sure a client''s web browser pulls the
latest version of your style sheet or javascript file instead of using a
cached one? We are currently using a tedious way where we add a
version number to the file (e.g. screen-v12.css) and when Rails boots up
it finds the latest version in the style sheet folder. On the other
hand, I have seen Basecamp append

CPU Limit in Centos
A few years ago, I vaguely recall some issue with RHEL needing a special license or something like that, if you had more than a certain amount of CPU's or a certain amount of RAM.
Does Centos work fine for 2 CPU's, 16 cores, 32 threads, and 256 G of ram?
Centos6 specifically.

WNetGetUser16
Hi everybody,
I am new to this forum so don't shoot me if I do something wrong in the beginning...
My problem:
I am trying to get an application running under wine developed with Superbase, an old Win16 Rapid-application-delvelopment database. Nearly everything is working quite well but this program relies on getting the name of the currently logged in user by calling the Win16 function

runs of heads when flipping a coin
Can someone recommend a method to answer the following type of question:
Suppose I have a coin with a probability hhh of coming up heads (and 1-hhh
of coming up tails)
I plan on flipping the coin nnn times (for example, nnn = 500)
What is the expected probability or frequency of a run of rrr heads* during
the nnn=500 coin flips?
Moreover, I would probably (excuse the pun) want the answer for a

Liveice & Icecast...help
Yes, I downloaded the aumix utility and am using it now. Set line in to %50
then %25 and to record but still the same thing. I'm streaming from the
line in on the sound card which is being fed from a portable radio nearby.
I get the distortion whether I have the audio fed into 'line in' or not.

So, I''ve stumbled across bleak_house (http://blog.evanweaver.com/files/doc/fauna/bleak_house/files/README.html) - this looks like it may help me track down what is causing the Memory leak I''m seeing (be it me, Ubuntu, Debian, or Puppet).
First step: I''m going to clone the repo, branch
Second step: Learn Ruby - shouldn''t be too hard.
Third step: Do exactly what

It doesn't matter what the _line_in_ volume is set at just make sure it is
selected to record. then set the _rec_ volume, it's a different thing. I
use the interactive curses interface, select _line_in_ to
