Fleming-Harrington weighted log rank test
Hi all,? The survdiff() from survival package has an argument "rho" that implements Fleming-Harrington weighted long rank test.? But according to several sources including "survminer" package (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/survminer/vignettes/Specifiying_weights_in_log-rank_comparisons.html), Fleming-Harrington weighted log-rank test should have 2 parameters "p" and &q...

Tuning string matching
...of people that have to pass an on-line test, but only a fraction of them do it. Moreover, as they input their names, the resulting string do not always match the names I have in my database. I would like to do two things: 1. Match any strings that are 90% the same Example: name1 <- "Harry Harrington" name2 <- "Harry Harington" I need a function that would declare those strings as a match (ideally having an argument that would allow introducing 80% instead of 90%) 2. Arrange a final table that would take me from: Table1 (the complete list of people from my database) No Name...

weighed Fleming-Harrington log rank test
You are correct that the survreg routine only supports 'rho' of the Fleming-Harrington G-rho tests. This is a function of age -- I wrote the original code back when I was working with Tom (Fleming), and he was only using 1 parameter. Later he and David expanded the test to two parameters. This might be only the second request for the feature in the 30+ years since that date. Terr...

What algorithm is R using to calculate mean?
...ssume is a numerical correction which seems to be the mean difference from the mean of the data: for (i = 0; i < n; i++) t += (REAL(x)[i] - s); s += t/n; I haven't been able to track this algorithm down anywhere (mean is not a great search term). Any help would be much appreciated, Zach Harrington

Vorbis decoder chip on SparkFun
...http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8300 As of April 17th, SF listed a new Ogg Vorbis decoder chip that is seriously listing for $10 USD. I'm excited. I think I'll buy a couple and integrate them into an IR streaming project I've been tinkering with. -Chris Harrington

[sorta offtopic] Removing bad bytes from filenames
I'm moving my Ogg Vorbis collection off of my Linux server and onto my laptop. I plan on using iTunes to play my collection, but, that's a whole 'nother can of worms. I'm having trouble moving my complete collection over because dbPowerAmp (an application I used to love) made some dumb decisions about naming my files. For example, in track/album/artist names that contained a

Discrepancy in the regression coefficients for Cox regression - PBC data set
Hi, When I run the following Cox proportional hazards model on the Mayo clinic's PBC data set (given in the "survival" package), the regression coefficients do not agree with the results presented in Table 4.6.3 (p. 195) of Fleming & Harrington's book. library(survival) data(pbc) ans.cox <- coxph(Surv(time, status) ~ log(bili) + log(alb) + age + log(protime) + edema) ans.cox > ans.cox <- coxph(Surv(time, status) ~ log(bili) + log(alb) + age + log(protime) + edema) > ans.cox Call: coxph(formula = Surv(time, status...

DONE: Installation of packages?
Dear helpers, thanks. Installation of R and packages (like integrate) successful done. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH wasn't set in the correct order: system libs ahead of the compiler lib. Cross checks provided by Brian Ripley, Oxford, helped a lot.
