Tick marks that correspond with bars on barplot
Hello all, I have created a barplot that shows change in hardwood/softwood density from 1965 to 2005 in 5 year periods (1965,1970, etc). I would like to have an X-axis where the labels for the years line up after every two bars in the plot (there is one bar for hardwood, and another for softwood). Below is my script: density<-read.table("F:\\Megan\\Vtest.csv", header=TRUE,

RODBC to query an Oracle table
Hello all, I am having trouble running a count function in R using RODBC to query a table I created in Oracle. It may very well be that my SQL coding is incorrect; I just started learning it. But if someone could point me in the right direction or tell me if I am going about this the correct way that would be greatly appreciated! The script I have right now is: >require(RODBC)

...39;t work and I'd really appreciate some help. While I have your ears, what books would one make for the clueless? Many thanks, Jeff PS. nat_est is the estimated number of species (species richness). Around each of the sampling points I calculated the % of different types of cover (pine, hardwoods, number of different covers) in three scales around the sampling points (1000, 200, and 100 m). What I'm hoping to do with the analysis is to find the best scales and parameters that best predicts species richness. . **************************************** Jeffrey A. Stratford, Ph.D. Post...

Rsync for Windows on http://www.gaztronics.net/rsync.php
Hi to all on the Rsync mailing list. I noticed some posts back on the 25th September about my Rsync page (http://www.gaztronics.net/rsync.php). There were questions regarding it's suitability, why it was there, etc, and how I did not conform to the GPL. I have since sought advice from the Rsync administrators, who have advised me with regards to the GPL, etc. The page has been updated

Best way to implement?
So I''m new to all this Rails stuff and this is probably a database design-related question to, but here it is... Just for learning I''m trying to build a little real estate listings application. Of course there is the listings model which will store basic information like name, price, description, and all that jazz. I''m to the point where I want to figure out how to

Wilkcoxon with bootstrap
R-users, Background: I took roadside samples of avian species richness and I would like to model the relationship between species richness and habitat around my 500 + sample locations (in a file called ROADSIDE). However, one criticism is that roadside habitats do not represent habitats throughout the study area. I tend to disagree because I detect birds away from the roads and the pixel size

[SOLVED] Win NT 4.0 SP4 access to Samba 1.9.16p9
Hello folks - back on April 2nd I asked why my NT 4.0 with SP4 computer wouldn't connect to my old copy of Samba (1.9.16p9), while my neighbour's NT 4.0 with SP3 computer did just fine. This was in the case of a read-write share that only myself and my neighbour had access to under our user names. A read-only share worked just fine on both our computers. Thanks to Herb Lewis & Jan

SUM: After upgrade to 2.0.6, Win98 users can't connect to Samba shares
Hi everybody - Yesterday, I said that my Windows 98 & 95 computers couldn't connect to my Samba shares after upgrading from version 1.9.16p9 to 2.0.6, while my NT 4.0 (SP4 & SP6) computers could, even though I had the same user names & passwords on all the machines (UNIX, Win'9x, NT). I re-read the "What's New in Samba 2.0.6" document this morning, and found

After upgrade to 2.0.6, Win98 users can't connect to Samba shares
Hello everyone - I just upgraded from Samba 1.9.16p9 to 2.0.6 last week. Samba is running on my Digital UNIX 4.0E (aka Tru64 aka OSF1) workstation, and I have various Win'95, Win'98, and NT 4.0 (SP4 & SP6) computers accessing the Samba shares. One share is read-only, and one is read/write to specific users (I've included my smb.conf file below). If a users accesses the

Old Samba 1.9.16p9, NT 4.0 SP3 & NT 4.0 SP4, read-write problems
Hello list. I've been running an old version of Samba (1.9.16p9) to give read-only access to my Digital UNIX 4.0B workstation hard drives (the share is called "rootdir"). It's worked great for over 2 years for that purpose. I finally want to give read-write access to 2 users (myself and my assistant). Her computer has NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3. Mine has NT 4.0 with Service
