HardwareList - webcams
Hi List, The hardware list page on the Wiki: http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/HardwareList says: "I'd like to see this page as an entry point for hardware that does not work with CentOS out of the box or only with some effort. I do not see a need for a list which states all working hardware." I'd like to ask if we can make a small exception to that rule for webcam...

RTL8111 Wiki Pages
Howdy, It appears that CentOS 5.2's support for the RTL8111B/C chip is incomplete. The wiki has some blanket statements regarding this support: http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/HardwareList/CentOS5/RealTek/r1000 http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/HardwareList/RealTekRTL8111b I could dive in an make the changes *I* think need to happen but I'd like to talk to people first. The gritty details: Last night I attempted to install 5.2 x86_64 on a new Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L....

Typo on "AdditionalResources/HardwareList" page
Dear all, Under "Where to turn first" section, inside the paragraph just after the bullet points, the string "read, write Default" has been mistakenly inserted. The sentence: ... complete systems that are certifieread, write Defaultd for running under RHEL ... should read: ... complete systems that are certified for running under RHEL ... Regards, Timothy Lee

OK looking for some constructive critiuquing and ideas. This is just a ruff draft 1. First we need to know what type of graphics card you have. Please do the following at the command window. To get to the command window do the following [root at nVidia ~]#lspci -v "note the difference in board manufactures." These drivers will work on all Aftermarket

r8169 Update
...the kernel that works with the RTL8110. RealTek's web site now carries the new r8169 instead of the r1000. The newer driver fixed a problem I was having on one host so we should probably recommend it over the older r1000. I've updated my CentOS 4 page. rpm for r8168
Hello I've just been hit by one of the chipsets described at http://wiki.centos.org/HardwareList/RealTekRTL8111b. Because a) it does not work with the stock driver included in Centos 5.1 and b) I am very lazy and I do not like manually compiling modules each time a new kernel is installed (not to mention that I never forget anything, except for the important things which always go under the...

Slow samba and Realtek card
...as an initial installation Our customer on this kernel has experienced slow pref on samba shares (50 seconds to open a file) So I have decided to updrade to centos 5.2 that have the right detection of this card inside (2.6.18-92.1.6.el5.centos.plus) [<http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/HardwareList/CentOS5/RealTek/r1 000?action=show&redirect=HardwareList%2FCentOS5%2FRealTek%2Fr1000>] # yum update # reboot The slow samba shares didn't disapear at all ! Page Request
I'd like to add a page for the Realtek RTL8111b NIC. I'm not sure how you'd like to organize it since the page really could be relevant to both CentOS 4 and CentOS 5. I think a single page like: http://wiki.centos.org/HardwareList/RealTekRTL8111b Would work with links to both CentOS 4 *and* CentOS 5? However, if the wiki admins want two pages, that'll be fine too. Can you also give write access to BillScheel since he's the author of the related CentOS 5 Realtek r1000 page? Thanks, Wiki Account kirkbocek

Problem with driver disk on amd64
Hi, I have a really strange problem with a driver disk (http://wiki.centos.org/HardwareList/RealTekRTL8111b) on amd64. I'm remotly booting the system via isolinux-files, so I unfortunatly do not have access to relevant logs, all I can see the the primary console/screen. With i386, the driver disk works just fine and I can install via http. But with amd64, the installer complains no d...
