Off topic: nonparametric regression
Hi All, What do you consider to be the best book(reference) on nonparametric regression? I am currently reading the book of Kunio Takezawa(2006): "Introduction to nonparametric regression". Is the book of Hardle(1990): "Applied nonparametric regression" better? or maybe another book? This is off topic, but most of the books is using R or S-plus. corrupted smoothing kernel ?
...ot;smoothing". I would appreciate some suggestions and/or literature references by people experienced about detrending and smoothing. I was told the there are two best methods about detrending: polynomial fit on a sliding window and kernel smoothing. I keep being confused . I got the book by Hardle. Maybe you can advice some other clarifying literature (possibly with examples). Thank you very much. Maura tutti i telefonini TIM! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Image files in R
Does anyone have experience importing image files into R? I would like to be able to import such files, use R to analyze and compare and perhaps export again a modified file which can be displayed by the usual image display programs. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
