I am using vshadow.exe to create a volume shadow copy of c: which is made
available at //?/GLOBALROOT/Device/HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1. I can then run
the following rsync command succesfully:
rsync -ae ssh //?/GLOBALROOT/Device/HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1/SomeFolder/
user@remote.server:Backup
Next, I try to implement the same but using --files-from, as follows:
rsync -ae ssh --files-from=files.txt
//?/GLOBALROOT/Device/HarddiskVo...

access of windows shadow copy by rsync?
Hello
Im trying to access shadow copies under windows XP by rsync.
Shadow copies may be accessed as a device with the following syntax:
\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1
I try it with rsync but the log always states:
rsync: link_stat
"/cygdrive/\//GLOBALROOT/Device/HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1/ada"
failed: No such file or directory (2)
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at

NTFS backup question
...know that this is the Samba list, however I searched the net and asked
the below question on MS mailing lists, but I didn't got any usefull info,
so:
Does anyone know of any free tool that can be used from WinXP command line
to backup files from NTFS 5 volumes paths (eg.
\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1) to a file on a diferent
disk or to a stream. The specific of my problem is that I realy need to
backup NTFS ACL-s, extendent attributes and posibly alternate data
streams.
The ntbackup.exe has two problems:
- it can't operate on volume paths
(\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\Harddisk1)
- can't be...
