Three Identical systems - short cut to setting up the drives?
I am building three identical systems. Well they will have different host names, and with time the software setups will drift. But at install time they are identical. Is there some way, (with dd I might guess) to do a hardare level copy? All three drives are Hitachi DK23DA-40F (40Gb). Supposedly factory reconditioned (they are in sealed bags with a drive sticker stating: "Refurbished to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Specifications"). I would want to copy the paritition table and my 3 partitions (/bo...

Samba problems in stable?
...and there's no reply. Samba.org doesn't even have any matches on their search page I can find. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this? Kernel 2.4.26-bk1 Samba 2.0.7-1 Debian Stable The hardware is a P3-850 with 512Megs of ram. Most of the files being accessed are nfs mounted from a hardare appliance (SNAP). Interesting catalog: Viking Electronics
...at least somewhat useful in conjunction with their Asterisk systems. Many of the widgets can be replaced with Asterisk as far as the "smarts" of the devices, but I keep seeing requests for "door phones", "intercom phones" and "hotline phones", and other hardare stuff, so I'll post it here. I'm not affiliated with them at all; I just saw some interesting stuff in their catalog that I thought might be useful to the professional/amateur/hobbyist crowd here. Someone who is clever enough and has time with the wiki might consider putting it there....

Modules for X100P
Can anybody recommend a reseller in Europe (Netherlands) for modules for the X100P (FXO and FXS modules)? Cost, support are important. Also, what is a reasonable price for an X100P in Europe? Is there a difference in price between OEM and Boxed versions? Thanks, Pieter

Very bad quality with AVM Fritz!card PCI and chan_capi
Hi everyone, I have Asterisk SVN-trunk-r7498 running for a few months and I'm quite happy with it. However, I am experiencing a quality issue with my AVM Fritz!card PCI which is used with chan_capi. When somebody calls me on this line he hears a lot of noise and I hear "scratches" and "plops". It is very annoying. Below is is my /etc/asterisk/capi.conf I've tried to

[LLVMdev] LLVM as a shared library
...currently use the C++ API to figure out what it would take to get them to switch to the C API. I maintain a reasonable amount of out-of-tree code that embeds LLVM in various things, including a couple of language front ends, an out-of-tree back end, and some tools for interfacing with experimental hardare and so suffer the pain of C++ API changes on a fairly frequent basis. The C APIs generally feel clunky to use. If we have a stable C API that is useful, I'd love to see C++ wrappers so that we don't have to suffer things like iterators. Currently, we conflate 'C' and 'stable&...

Booting error - Unable to specify channel 2: No such device
Hello All, I am getting a set of errors when I boot Asterisk that I have not been able to solve. What is causing these error(s)? Linux Sound Architecture (Updated)
I forgot the most important part in the original, the kernel! (I hope the ASCII art doesn't get mangled) I have been working a while trying to get a big picture of how Linux handles sound processing and after much work I have put together this little representation of what I have learned. Please send me any additional comments or components that I may have missed. I hope it helps somebody

OCFS Database too slow
Hi All, we are using Red Hat 2.1 Kernel e38 along with MSA 1000. ocfs version being used is $ rpm -qa | grep ocfs ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1 ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.12-1 ocfs-support-1.0.10-1 Database Version is 9.2.0.5 However we find that the performance of the database on OCFS is too slow. even a select count(1) from all_tables takes like a while to complete. We initially assumed RAC is

[LLVMdev] LLVM as a shared library
Hello LLVM community, Over the last few years the LLVM team here at Apple and development teams elsewhere have been busily working on finding new and interesting uses for LLVM. Some of these uses are traditional compilers, but a growing number of them aren’t. Some of LLVM’s new clients, like WebKit, are embedding LLVM into existing applications. These embedded uses of LLVM have their own unique
