Samba and AD problem
I am following the examples section 9.3 in the "Samba 3 By Example" book.
I can SSH onto the samba server as an AD user but I cant mount a samba share.
If I run wbinfo -u or -g it shows the users and groups BUT it doesn't
show the short domain name, also if I run the getent commands they
shouw details but no domain name.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what may be wrong.

User problem (samba, w2k3)
Hi there
Could you also join your krb5.conf and your pam.d/login files ?
I also have the same kind of problem, and I just would like to see
differences between our configurations ...
Thanks for reading !

Directdraw and Wine Compilation
Hi, I am trying to compile wine in an AMD64 Ubuntu machine, taking the
precautions needed shown in the winehq's wiki to do it. The
compilation finishes fine, but for some reason there is no support for
some things that used to have in the i386 pre-compiled package.
One of them is ALSA sound. I use ALSA because for some reason OSS
sometimes ruins the sound making it look like a loud scratch

4kB sector size HDDs
Hello again.
Do any of you have one of the 'new' HDDs with 4kB Sectors currently in use?
I would upgrade to the 4kB disks but I don't know if this might be
problematic as I intend to use ZFS w/ RAIDz or at least a classic RAID6.
How might this affect performance under 5.5 and how do I go about setting up
the alignment of the partitions I use?
Kind regards
Dawid Horace

The good old winecfg audio tab
Ok, I know this is probably very redundant, but I'm getting the Audio
tab crash with winecfg. The error output is:
wine: unhandled page fault on write access to *insert hex numbers here*
(thread 0009)
Modules: Cannot get info on modules while no process is loaded
etc.
After the last few hours spent surfing dozens of forums and threads,
none of the fixes have worked.

I've got a very nicely working samba server with cups as the backend. i
also have a colour printer on which I must do billing every month.
i've done a test page or two and the username comes though to the colour
printer which is good. problem i had is the jobname in the logs is
smbprn_xxxxxxxx_xx (numbers) which is the samba job name. if joe bloggs
complains and says he

rawlog segfaults (error 4 in libdovecot.so.0.0.0)
Hello everybody,
i tried to debug imap sessions with the rawlog feature and rawlog
creates files but when i try to dump them doveadm tells me
[...] Error: zlib.read((file)): unexpected EOF at [...].
I looked at syslog files and i see, that rawlog gets
terminated with a segfault, e.g.:

[RFC PATCH 00/35] Xen i386 paravirtualization support

paravirtualization requires modification to the guest operating system
to work with the platform interface provided by the hypervisor.
Xen was designed with performance in mind. Calls to the hypervisor

Connect Samba 4.3 to an existing Kerberos server
Hello,
I want to connect Samba 4.3 to an existing Kerberos server. So that the
users who already exist in Kerberos can log on to the Windows clients of
our Samba server.
In the documentation of Windows Server I found the following:
"You can establish a realm trust between any non-Windows Kerberos
version 5 (V5) realm and an Active Directory domain."
I have already set up an AD DC. But

Kernel.org Linux on Xen as domU with PCI support
Hi,
is it possible to compile the official kernel for domU including pci
passthrough support?
2.6.30.4 runs perfect for me in a domU (followed
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen ),
but pci support is missing.
Any help is really appreciated.
Greetings
Leo

Hallo!
I installed dovecot at a customers and it is not working.
Neither the 1.0.alpha4 (Debian testing) nor the 1.0.beta2 (Debian unstable) do.
in /var/log/mail.err I get following error message over and over again:

NTUSER.DAT, user's settings
Hallo!
I have reinstalled the server, specially the Samba PDC.
I copied all the data back and the system seemed to work. People were
able to log on and had the drives mapped.
Now, at the day "0" after reinstall, the users cannot work. The user's
settings on the "Windows 2k Professional" machines are not adopted. They
all have their desktops and own documents, but the

Windows refusing samba server
Hi George, my machines are coming back since I've rebooted the machine.
Some others don't. Because there is an unspecified interval of time
between dying and reviving machines, I am sure it's a kerberos issue.
But I don't have any idea where this error is located. I hope the
machines are all coming back to productivity and stay at this point.
My samba is running as a domain

HPUX 10.20 and OpenSSH 3.4.p1
Hello,
over the last few days I've been attempting to compile openssh-3.4p1 on a HP j5000 (hpux 10.20) but have run
into some problems.
I had found the paper from Kevin Steves and have been following his suggested steps. Perl, zlib, prngd,
tcp_wrappers and openssl all compiled more or less as he described. The configure script runs without protest
but make gets hung up in

ZFS @ centOS
I have trouble finding definitive information about this. I am considering
the use of SME 7.5.1 (centOS based) for my server needs, but I do want to
use ZFS and I thus far I have only found information about the ZFS-Fuse
implementation and unclear hints that there is another way. Phoronix
reported that http://kqinfotech.com/ would release some form of ZFS for the
kernel but I have found nothing.
