Will Vorbis happily decode packets with random data?
...le has valid Ogg page structure, and a valid Vorbis header, but somewhere in the file a packet has been replaced with arbitrary data (say Windows executable code), will the decoder notice this? For example, will it get into some invalid state which it notices, and return an error code? Or will it happily produce bogus output, unaware that there's a problem? If it will notice the problem, then I can check for valid Vorbisness by decoding the file. If not, then I'll need to think of something else. Thanks, Martin --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project hom...

C6, lightweight window managers - opinions?
So, on my old Netbook, now happily running C6.9, I'm looking for opinions for a lightweight window manager. Gnome surely ain't it.... Years back, I used to like IceWM, but not sure it's been kept up. So, opinions? mark

xVM and zones not co-existing happily
Hi all, I installed 2009.06, xVM and happily installed a domU with no issues. I just did this through the virt-manager GUI, and kept it as simple as possible. Later I installed and booted a zone with very simple and standard configuration. My existing xVM virtual machine did not immediately stop working, or have any interruption at all. But...

Software RAID muck up
Hi, I hope someone can help. Just started to play with software RAID on Centos 3.5 and was trying to simulate a faulty drive by using the -f switch on mdadm to mark the partition (drive) as faulty and I then I removed and readded the drive, which quit happily rebuilt according the /proc/mdstat and the output from the --detail switch of mdadm. After all this mucking around I shutdown the system and tried to restart it in the morning but the system now won't boot, it gets as far as "GRUB loading" and just stops I have hard reset to get...

XSendFile in development environment
Hi I''m currently trying to use X-Sendfile to take some load off my rails app, unfortunately in my development environment mongrel is happily passing through the x-sendfile header, presumably for the (non- existant) proxy to handle the header. Is there some way to make mongrel process the x-sendfile header itself? Thanks jebw

ZFS ok for single disk dev box?
...tudio @work and like it better than gcc. I was thinking maybe it isn''t so smart to use ZFS since it has only one drive. If ZFS detects something bad it might kernel panic and lose the whole system right? I realize UFS /might/ be ignorant of any corruption but it might be more usable and go happily on it''s way without noticing? Except then I have to size all the partitions and lose out on compression etc. Any suggestions thankfully received.

Newbie needs help
To all: I am running FreeBSD v7.03 and using icecast2 which is happily relaying a shoutcast MP3 stream. I want to play (mix)a pre-recorded "Stream ID" file to the existing stream once per hour. I've tried ices0 but no luck. Any help will be much appreciated. Mike

doveadm import with subfolder oddity
...special_use = \Trash } prefix = INBOX. separator = . subscriptions = yes type = private } If I do a import for a regular folder under INBOX, it works just fine: doveadm import -u testbox2 at testing.local -U testbox1 at testing.local mdbox:~/mdbox INBOX all mailbox Sent ... returns happily, message count gets incremented If I try to do the same with a subfolder (and a subfolder that most definitely exists on both source and destination side), I get an error: doveadm import -u testbox2 at testing.local -U testbox1 at testing.local mdbox:~/mdbox INBOX all mailbox Sub.Sub1 doveadm(tes...

How to stop mount.cifs remembering password
...is not a Windows problem since in Windows, connecting to the folder requires the correct password every time. Is there any way I can force mount.cifs to forget the correct password so that it requires it to be correct each time? I'm sorry if I have not provided the correct information: I will happily do so if told what to provide! I have tried the Samba website and Google for answers, but haven't found the right search phrase. If I've missed something, I'll happily just receive a link to the right page. Thanks for any help! X330 Keyboard/box dies on install 4.0, not on 3.4
...me once I boot to anaconda from the CD. It dies as soon as the blue-background screen appears, and it dies no matter which selection I choose at isolinux. (I'm sure the system isn't locked because the keyboard is dead while the SCSI driver is loading, and the system keeps chugging along happily until it needs input.) The CD passes all of the tests I can apply to it, from checksum to media check, and has been used to install a half dozen machines both before or since. I also downloaded a new ISO from a different mirror and reburnt another one; it's most certainly the install packag...

dissimilarity matrices
Dear All, I have a dissimilarity matrix which I happily convert to a distance object by running: X <- as.dist(Y) and I can happily now run either hclust(X) or agnes(X). So that the various bits of output are labelled correctly I would dearly like to be able to give names to the columns and rows of X, as would happen if I ran: mydata<-read.t...

server renaming problems
Good Morning, I have a Sun E220R I am building as a replacement for an Ultra2. The OS is Solaris 2.7, samba version is 2.2.2. As a test box I named the E220R 'tiamat'. The older U2 is 'terra'. Tiamat had samba running happily on it. Last night I tested the switch over by using /usr/sbin/sys-unconfig on tiamat. This strips the system id, hostname, IP address. I then reconfigured the server as terra with a new IP. When I brought the system up I expected to have to edit the smb.conf file and then have the service runni...

Not an IMAP4 Server?
I've been testing alpha4, and every once in a while my client (Thunderbird 1.5 RC1) tells me the dovecot isn't a valid IMAP4 server. This is usually (maybe always) when I first bring up the client up. If I just ask the client to get the mail again, it does so happily (without any errors). I must say I found dovecot as a pleasant surprise. We have been using UW. Which didn't scale well. I was considering going to cyrus, but dovecot seems to have given much (if not all) of performance improvements without all the hassle of conventing all the existing...

Problem with HTTP stream but not HTTPS.
Strange issue - not sure if something has changed in Icecast2, but suddenly my long-running stream won’t connect to 8000 and says 'File or directory not found’ http://listen.radioclash.com:8000/ <http://listen.radioclash.com:8000/> but will happily connect to the SSL port I’ve set up https://listen.radioclash.com:8443/ <https://listen.radioclash.com:8443/> I am using Liquidsoap to create the streams, it’s an Auto DJ station…problem is the URL I use for TuneIn etc is the HTTP one, could redirect but better to fix why the HTTP is doing...

CentOS 7 install on one RAID 1 [not-so-SOLVED]
So, it installed happily. Then wouldn't boot. No problem, I'll bring it up with pxe, then chroot and grub2-install. Um, nope. I edited the device map from hd0 and hd1 being the RAID to /dev/sda and /dev/sdb, then ran grup2-install. It now tells me can't identify the filesystem on hd0, and can't perform a...

Replacing Windows account with local account.
OK, I'm stumped. I have a Samba server (v3.0.20a) with security=DOMAIN and using winbind to authenticate non-local users against a W2K domain controller. This setup happily serves out home directories and about six other shares. I need to add a local UNIX account for a formerly Windows only user. When I try useradd I get: user <username> exists. This makes sense becasue of winbind. What I cannot figure out is how 'erase' him so I can create a local us...

Macintosh + Samba integration
I have been searching through the docs and on the web to no avail. I work at a university and we are moving our fileservers to new hardware. The problem is, nothing seems to integrate Mac's and Win box's happily. We have a large user base using samba already, but when mac's pick up the same share via CAP, CAP creates files to deal with the dual 'stream' nature of files from a macintosh. Samba doesnt synchronise those files understandably, but it throws the macintosh's horribly out of synch...

New release
...make sure files encoded with git are still decodable in older versions etc. Considering Windows binaries: in case no new binaries are provided, please at least remove the old ones from sourceforge. As can be gleaned from some bug reports, support requests etc. on sourceforge, people are still happily downloading old versions. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
