Jobs hanging printer after printing
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me out here. I have an apple laserwriter
(postscript) printer attached to the network via ethertalk. I have the
printer set up in cups, using the pap backend found here
(http://users.phg-online.de/tk/CUPS/backend/pap). I then set the printer up
through samba so that windows (XP) users can print to it. However if I
print a test page from windows, the job prints

URGENT problem: Win-NT4 connecting to Samba
...cannot open/access the printer. But it can
print. I never had this problem before, every NT4 machine I connected before
was able to view the printer queue!
--> What is the problem here? Is there a fix?
If required, I can also supply the smb.conf file for your reference.

Printing on Samba with WinNT...
...ld be great if it accepts everything
and does everything in the name of one user (because it does only
printing, this should be fine).
2. If 1.) does not work, what's about using one user with a trivial
password for all windoze users? How do I set this up?

Stupid problem with SAMBA and Windows NT4...
...ver are still with good pass-
words? -- I will prefer SAMBA access without any password. Because
everything is bound to the local NIC and the server is running fire-
wall, Masquerading,..., this shouldn't be really dangerous at all.
Maybe this will help.

"Workgroup-login" with plain password does not work from NT...
...o not possible to mount
it from NT4, and it is only possible to mount it from XP by executing its
name '\\majestix' and then doing a "connect". This was not the case with samba
2.0.3, here everything worked fine.
Any idea on how to get the same behaviour back?

Urgent problem with Samba and Windows NT4...
Hello!
I tried to get some help from the IRC before, but the problem seems to be too
complicated to discuss it there.
PLEASE, be so kind and help me solving this problem, I stuck and I must get
this working as quick as possible.
Here an overview and some details:
In one well protected LAN (so I have no need to encrypt passwords at all,
which simplifies user management on servers in turn because
