smbclient porting to Handheld device
Dear Andrew Tridgell and Samba Team,
You have done a wonderful job in providing an
excellent
piece of software. I am interested in porting
smbclient to Handheld device, mostly as a hobby.
Please see my website http://vieka.com/.
Because some of the Handheld OSs don't have the
ability to access Windows share resource,
specifically, the new Pocket PC by Microsoft, I would
like to add this

SIP on Handhelds
Does anyone know if SIP will/is support on handheld PCs such as the iPaq
or Axiom? With their integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth it seems like a
solution to provide a wireless based sip phone for any user would be
possible. Handoff between access points might be problematic but most
users I know would be using their PDA phone in an airport with free
wireless or at the local cafe, etc, etc...

Problems with VFAT files with spaces in Wine
I am running RedHat 7.1 on it's own linux drive, and have my win98 drive
mounted in fstab as vfat. I have installed wine, and can run programs
on my windows drive in old 8.3 named directoies. However, whenever I
try to run anything in Program Files, for example (with the space in the
file name), I get the following error:

A quick, and probably a silly few questions regarding Wine & ARM support.
In a few months time, a new hand held created by a open source community is going to be released. More specificity Pandora: http://openpandora.org/
Its going to run with the following specs:
* ARM? Cortex?-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux
* 430-MHz TMS320C64x+? DSP Core

Hello,
I just want to know whether it would be possible to play ogg-theora
videos on my favourite Handheld, the GP2X. For those of you who don't
know the GP2X yet there's much information about it on Wikpedia or on
http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/Hardware_Documentation . To make it short,
its an ARM-based Handheld which is able to play Xvid and DivX

support this level of integration. (Current
workaround is to paste it into Excel and then copy
it back out of Excel. Excel will add tabs to the

I understand that this feature may be in R 2.3.0
but am mentioning it for completeness.

UNIX-based handhelds would likely be simplest

I have compiled R-1.2.2 for arm-linux (iPAQ) on the skiffcluster, an ARM
compile farm accessible at
http://www.handhelds.org/projects/skiffcluster.html
and R-1.2.3 using cross compilation tools on x86 linux (cross compilers
are also available at www.handhelds.org).
Compilation went smoothly, it is possible to start the resulting binary,
it prints its version as:

Speex for TI 5509 DSP
I saw a thread in the list archives about a speex port to TI 55x DSP.
Wondering how that worked out (is working out)?
Also wondering if there is a source archive for it,
or if the patch in the email archives is still current, or if there's been
updates.
Any info appreciated.
Thanks

Speex for TI 5509 DSP
...the dsp c5x
patch.
Archive link:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2004-October/002847.html
Patch link:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/attachments/20041029/facb8c73/spee
x-1.1.6-jeh1-0001.bin
But that patch is very different (much smaller) then the dsp c5x patch at
http://handhelds.org/~jamey/speex/speex-1.1.6-jeh2.patch.
I had appied the patch at this link:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/attachments/20041029/facb8c73/spee
x-1.1.6-jeh1-0001.bin
and enabled FIXED_POINT and speex is running on dsp c5x
So now I'm wondering, did I get the whole patch?
Which pa...

Business software for Linux
I am hoping to find a inventory management program suitable for
something like a bookstore or other 1-5 person smb. The software
would need to be able to accept inputs from wireless handheld
scanning devices for entry into the system. It must also work
with their windows based PoS computer. Any suggestions would be
highly appreciated.

Ogg Vorbis fixed-point math anyone ?
A few months ago, there was some discussion about adding fixed-point
support for iPAQ's StrongARM to Ogg Vorbis (whether and how it's
possible, that is). Has anybody tried this yet ?
