Hardware suggestions
Hi,
I`m looking for reliable and redundant hardware for Asterisk. I`ve been
leaning towards buying one of these (HP 360 G5 with everything as redundant
as possible), which I know will be good enough for a few months before
needing to upgrade:

Questions:
1) Any reason why I shouldn't? (bad past experience with HP hardware and
Asterisk for example)
2) Should I go Quad core or Dual-core? I will certainly go with two
processors (to start, simply for r...

cable? Can I make this cable myself?
In the future we plan to have 7 phones in the house. I'm considering
what kind of PoE switch I should purchase.
I have 3 PoE access points (for two separate LANs).
I've been considering th HP ProCurve 2610-24/12PWR Switch (J9086A) (

It's got 12 PoE ports, it's managed, and it looks like I can pick one up
for under $500.
Any help is appreciated.

Server advice for RoR for newbies
Hello,
I am fairly new to Ruby and deployment. Have started creating a some apps
and going through tutorials, etc. I am thinking about buying my own server
like a HP ProLiant DL380e Gen8 Server<http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/de/de/sm/WF25a/15351-15351-3328412-241475-241475-5261094.html> to
host and deploy my own web app which is a project management database where
externals and internals can track projects and upload or download files
with invoicing functionality. Max users would be no more than...

Intel VT-d Support
Hello all,
please tell me, how can I be sure that
my Xen installation is built with Intel VT-d support?
Something like
xm info | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
xm dmesg | grep -i KEY-REGULAR-EXPRESSION
What line I should look for?
And if it''s really built with it,
how can I be sure, that Xen has successfully
initialized VT-d hardware?
I have read [1] and the lists archives

Better to use a single large storage server or multiple smaller for mdbox?
I'm trying to improve the setup of our Dovecot/Exim mail servers to
handle the increasingly huge accounts (everybody thinks it's like
infinitely growing storage like gmail and stores everything forever in
their email accounts) by changing from Maildir to mdbox, and to take
advantage of offloading older emails to alternative networked storage
nodes.
The question now is whether having a

Running XEN w/ native guest OS on HP Prolian DLxx servers

Looking at the HW compatibility list for both CPUs and chipsets, I found
that the smallest machine (aka: a good platform to do the initial tests)
may be the DL320G4 with model number 410786-421, since as reported by...

Just to know: is there anybody here who tried to run XEN upon this

Nice chassis for ZFS server
Hi,
I just came across this box [0] (McKay Creek). Seems to be exceptional
building material for ZFS based NAS/iSCSI unit. I especially liked the
two extra system disks hidden inside the box !
Any one have an experience with these ?

Greetings,
Have been looking at the specs of Boston Venom T4000.

Windows to Samba Print servers
I suspect from everything that I've read that this may not be possible.
However, I'd love to hear otherwise.
Basically, we have a windows NT 4.0 domain with a pre-existing PDC and 4
BDC's. Roughly 80 percent of the servers in the domain are windows 2000. We
have about 1000 users we support in the domain.
We're thinking about moving our print servers off of windows 2000 and onto

OT: headless fanless silent 2 HDs micro server/pc...
Hey,
A bit out of topic but I am looking for a micro server/pc if anyone knows a descent one...
I found many nice NAS but I would like to have full access to the OS (install CentOS, etc).
Dream one would be
- Very quiet (fanless) since it will sit in my bedroom.
- Headless
- Small.
- 2/3 HDs (2.5" are ok) for RAID1 (hardware RAID would be nice, and with BBC even more).- 1 or 2 GB NICs

Slightly OT: which hardware for CentOS file server (Samba, 2 To storage, 50 users)?
Hi,
The language lab from the local university has contacted me. They'd like
to have a low-cost file server for storing all their language video
files. They have a mix of Windows, Mac OS X and even Linux clients,
roughly 50 machines. The files are quite big, and they calculated a
total amount of 2 To of storage.
I'm not very proficient with hardware, meaning either I'm dealing

[PATCH 00 of 17] Documentation updates
The following series flushes my documentation queue and replaces
previous postings of those patches.
The main difference is that the xl cfg file is now formatted using POD
instead of markdown and presented as a manpage.
I have setup a cron job to build docs/html and publish it at
http://xenbits.xen.org/docs/unstable/ (it''s a bit bare right now).
The motivation for some of these patches
