Samba Domain authentication and shares
Hello, I have been able to use Samba to join our Win2003 domain. I have also setup folders and permissions in the smb.conf file. I can browser to the Samba Shares 2 ways, thru network neighborhood and by UNC/ip address. Both of these methods prompt me for login which is not successful. I assumed that if I userA had permissions to a folder in the smb.conf file that Windows userA would e able to

Service
I am up and running and have installed my first app. Very cool. Has anyone ever had any luck running anything that needs to register itself as a service? I am looking at ArgoSoft Mail Server. Samba, Winbind and Active Directory
Hi, I am trying to set up Samba joining Active Directory. I have done this successfully before and have most of my previous files. Here is the issue I am seeing. I can "kinit administrator@HQ.MYDOMAIN.COM" I cannot "net ads join -U administrator" I get thus message: "Failed to join domain: Invalid credentials" The only error I seem to find is in my winbind log

NT4 domain authentication password expires, but is set not to
Hi, I have OpenSuse 10.2 authenticating against NT 4 domain. OS: OpenSuse 10.2 i386 samba-3.0.23d-19.7 samba-winbind-3.0.23d-19.7 samba-client-3.0.23d-19.7 kernel: 2.6.18.8-0.5-default #1 SMP Everything was fine, until 2 days ago, when it started showing that my password will expire in 3 days. The problem is, that for sure on the domain controller this account is set with no password
