NFSv4 on CentOS 5.5
...RedHat and Macintosh systems, and the flags that have to get added to automount maps (which we distribute centrally through LDAP) are different for each OS. So, I'd prefer to specify the local machine options in /etc/sysconfig/autofs rather than in the global automount map. Creating a Streaming Server
...he video being streamed will be generated dynamically using libGL. I have the pixel data for each frame of the libGL rendered image available to me, so really I am looking for an example that will let me take raw RGB pixel data, convert it to an Ogg stream and send it to users over HTTP. -- Tim Gustafson tjg at tgustafson.com 831-332-1496 http://tgustafson.com/

Vorbis vs OGG?
...Basically, I'm more interested in the compression algorithm than the framing one, because I will most likely be using UDP or some other Internet packet protocol to send the data from my server to the client. dsync backup gets stuck... fails
More dsync issues. We were running 2.1.7 and we updated to 2.1.9. Same problem with both versions. I'm getting an error 75 on about 40 boxes out of 1800. It is the same list of boxes every time we use 'dsync backup' to backup the server. dsync seems to stop communicating to the backup box (over ssh). strace just shows it sitting at a epoll_wait. Once the program quits (times out?), a

100 analog phones?? HOWTO?
Does anyone know the best approach to take for handling 100 analog phones? It seems to me that a chassis like Carrier Access or Adtran would work. The chassis would do much of the hard work of converting the analog sound to data. Any recommendations on hardware for the chassis? ...Jeff

My view on 1.0 release and version numbering
Just throwing out some thoughts here. I know Timo has high standards and is trying to make 1.0 bug free before calling it 1.0. But I want to argue for an earlier less perfect 1.0. Dovecot is already way past the quality of most 1.0 releases. So it is good enough by common standards. No one really expects a 1.0 release to be perfect. But - some people don't consider a product ripe until it

Need fast Maildir to mdbox conversion
I looked around the 'Net to see if there might be a custom program for offline Maildir to mdbox conversion. So far I haven't turned up anything. The problem for us is that the dsync program simply takes a lot of time to convert mailboxes. I wonder if time could be saved with a program that is optimized to convert mailboxes without the fancy locking that dsync needs to do. Does have (or

dreaded Caller*ID failed checksum
Caller*ID used to work as some point, but I can't seem to get it going these days. The card is a x101p. I've tried going up and down the rxgain scale. Can the txgain effect it at all? When I plug in a phone into the line with a splitter it can decode caller id with no problems. Reading through the mailing list archives hasn't given me any move clues. Any ideas?

Pointwise division of two zoo objects?
Just trying to create returns from prices, and do something like: returns.z = tail(prices.z,-1)/head(prices.z,-1) - 1 # should be equivalent to returns = exp(diff(log(prices.z))) - 1 Curiously, I get a zoo object back with zeros everywhere and also with the index having one fewer element than it should. Does anyone know how to pointwise divide zoo objects, and what exactly "/" is

Question - where's the mail?
I am running dovecot and dovecot-lda. Mail is delivered from my ISP via cron script using fetchmail. Over the last few days, there has been a selinux problem which gave permission denied problems whenever deliver would try to store mail in Maildir. I have a big blank spot in my incoming email from about Wed evening (when the latest FC5 upgrade (..) was installed to a few hours ago when I
