Wine 1.0 release date to clash with Firefox 3
.../WineReleasePlan the new release date for Wine 1.0 is set to June 17. However the Firefox 3.0 release date is also set to June 17. http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/index.php/2008/06/11/coming-tuesday-june-17th-firefox-3/ Their release is planned to be high profile and they even plan to set a Guinness world record for downloads in a single day! http://www.tuaw.com/2008/05/30/help-firefox-set-a-guinness-world-record/ With this, I fear that the Wine release would be drowned out in the euphoria and excitement for Firefox 3. I respectfully suggest, therefore, that we move the Wine 1.0 release dat...

CORRECTION: I must modify/clarify my statement about .0 releases ...
In looking through Red Hat's FTP site, I can find no such statement with regards to "do not use on production servers" in any README or Release Notes of Hurricane, Hedwig, Guinness or Psyche (Red Hat Linux 5.0, 6.0, 7 and 8.0, respectively). What I have found in my archives is a cutting from the official Red Hat Network (RHN) announcement of Psyche (8.0) that says two things: 1) It is an "early adopter" release, and 2) Do not upgrade "production systems&qu...

Is mirroring provides failover protection?
Hi, I have two Gluster servers A and B. They are mirrored. I mount A. What happens when server A goes down? I would like for my applications to seamlessly use data from the Gluster storage B. Thanks, Sergiy.

Can I have oplocks enabled without problems?
Hi, I used to have a win NT to serve small office networks comprised of windows clients. During the last months I have made a considerable effort to learn enough about linux in order to explore it's capabilities for that application. In the area of file & print sharing samba still looks as the best choice. I am using it in my office for some weeks now and I am quite happy with it. Yet I

Am I the only one having these issues ? 2) Are there any dev's in the NOVA, DC area who would want to meet up ( over a pint of Guinness ) Varol :)

Server disposal
Can anyone recommend a mailing list or other resource for finding a home for old server hardware? I've got a growing bone pile of retired Dell and Supermicro rack servers. I've stripped the drives and memory but hate to see the other old parts go to waste, like old RAID controllers and other proprietary parts.

Replacement web server time - catalog CPAN and PEAR installs
I'm looking to replace an OLD Fedora web server with a Centos 7 one. I'm currentlly in the process of documenting what is on the server ready to install the new one. While most things have been done with RPMs, some installs have had to be done via CPAN for Perl and PEAR for PHP. Is there a way of getting a list of everything that has been installed using these tools?

Hi! I have been learning rails for a couple of week now. Mostly i''ve worked on a authorize/roles system and now i go to the point that i want to separate it from en rest of my application to share it with others and to use it in other projects. It is a quite simple system that i implement using before_filter. My vision is to separate the authorize methods and even some basic
