Feeling a little guilty...
This is the first time I have tried Centros and I must say that I am a very happy camper. But maybe my needs/goals are simple: I need HTTP and FTP servers that support Apache, PHP and Interbase (yes, that "funny" DB that runs and runs). RH 9 was like that and so was FC 3, BUT FC 4 was something else...could not even get it to install (like others). And this forum has been VERY

The Guilt List
I''m not a paid developer, but I still feel guilty. I thought it might be entertaining to have a little "programmer confession." So let''s hear an answer to this simple question: What makes you guilty about your Rails development? Mine is a bad one: I don''t write tests. I understand that TDD makes sense, but I jus...

checking for libusb in configure.in
...=all" does not imply "--with-usb", and it was not registering that the libusb checks might be called regardless of whether --with-usb was set. I will do the testing and such, but I wanted to ask you before I work on a patch (especially since there is that "innocent until proven guilty" comment in there). -- - Charles Lepple

data frames; matching/merging
Hi all, I'm feeling a little guilty to ask this question, since I've written a solution using a rather clunky for loop that gets the job done. But I'm convinced there must be a faster (and probably more elegant) way to accomplish what I'm looking to do (perhaps using the "merge" function?). I figured somebody...

[OT] TDD, Goats and Happiness (WAS: The Guilt List)
[snip good stuff] > After that you realize that TDD just makes you happy, so you start to apply it to other aspects of your life. Wait, I thought happiness had something to do with goats and feeling guilty about it. I''m confused. Again. But I would second Dylan''s suggestion of seeing a video of TDD in action w/ RoR. Having never tried this, it''s difficult to imagine how it would work in practice. I''ll Google more about this later but if anyone has any suggesti...

R CMD check detects parse error, but in which file?
Hello I looked on the archives but did not find answer for that... Running R CMD check for a package, i get an error: Error in parse(n = -1, file = file) : unexpected symbol at 3341: } But how can I find which file is guilty? What is this 3342 referring to? Finally the solution I found is to source() every file until I find the file where the problem is... Is there some better way to do it? With a debuger? thanks a lot! Matthieu Stigler

Autocompletion
Hi there! I may be guilty of not doing my homework, but still, I've searched. I'm a relative newcomer to R (my forte is at present MATLAB, but for various reasons I'm trying to get literate in R). My question is: Is there an autocompletion feature buried somewhere in R? All the best Óttar [[alternative HTML...

Queues Announce help request.
I am trying to get a queue to do more than just play music and hold calls. Specifically, making some "comforting" voice announcements would be nice. Below is the queues.conf file relevant portions. Member phone number is munged to protect the guilty. We shouldn't need the announcement source info, but I have been trying everything. The problem is with the member busy, we get no voice announcements. (For test purposes is being on hold "busy"? We have also just laid the phone on the desk.) We will settle for expected hold time,...

[LLVMdev] LLVM SVN Repository Offline for Maintenance Tomorrow

Hi Marc, I am guilty of this as much as anyone, but there is nowhere else to put this info. It would probably be better to have a page that lays out what computer name, domain and ipaddress etc the wiki uses. It should also stress that the wiki is based around a self compiled system as this is the way that Samba is...

ices 0.1.0 released
I am having one slight weirdness which I haven't been able to put my finger on yet. About once every other day or so ices dies with an error about libshout not being able to reconnect to the server. I am not sure who is guilty here ices or icecast. Unfortunately it only happens rarely, twice so far, I'll let you folks know more if I can get a better handle on it. strange scp error on HPUX 11
Hi, I recently built openssh 2.9p2 on HP-UX 11 using GCC-3.0. ssh seems to work fine, but scp gives the following error whenever I try to use it (some names changed to protect the guilty). It seems to treat the first argument as a hostname no matter whether it is or not. Any perfectly legal scp invocation gives the same error (with the first argument as the offending hostname). Anyone else seeing this problem? dilly at gauss:~/src$ scp -v bison-1.28.tar.gz hoohoo at foo.bar.baz:/...

AstriCon offers a most sincere and humble apology for the barage of mail...
...uld like to offer my most humble apology for the enormous stream of mail messages currently battering at your mailboxes. I was honestly trying to help a worthy cause. Please blame me and only me. Neither Russell nor Josh are at all to blame for this. Nor, for that matter, is Olle. I am the guilty party. Please direct all anger/outrage/hatred/etc. towards me. I have not yet tracked down the root cause of the error, but believe me, we will NEVER do this again. My one and only foray into the world of spam has shown me the error of my ways. Please forgive me. Sincerely, Steve Steve S...
