cLVM on Debian/Lenny
Hi -
Is there someone around who successfully got cLVM on Debian/Lenny
working? I was wondering if I was the only one facing problems with...
Thanks in anticipation,

Xen on a HPC Cluster
Hi folks.
I have some old servers running Windows and Linux and I want to create a HPC
cluster. However I wanna know if Xen can distribute a single virtual machine
along multiple nodes to increase it''s performance.

Running Xen over NFSv3
Does anyone, is anyone running Xen on NFSv3 successfully?
What are some of your pain points/success points?
Have you tried a clustered file system with better results such as DRBD or GFS?
TIV,
Matt

Problems booting a 32bit domU kernel on a Debian sarge amd64 x86_64 dom0 host.
I installed Debian sarge amd64 on a Intel em64t processor machines and have
been using the Xen 3.0 packages in backports.org.
I can boot a 32 bit guest OS fine if I use the
vmlinuz-2.6.16-1-xen-em64t-p4kernel, but when trying to use the stock
vmlinuz-2.6.16-xen from their binary tarball, or building it from the source
package I get the following error:
xentest:/var/log# xm create debian0.cfg -c

Bare Metal Installation of Xen
Is there a documented approach somewhere for performing an unattended
''bare metal'' install of Xen?
The Xen Users'' Manual describes an installation flow that requires a
host OS on the target machine. This host OS is used for installation
of Xen, but Xen does not execute "on top of" this OS (rather Xen
executes directly "on top of" the hardware

Paravirtualized Linux with graphics (X Window)?
Hi,
Anybody please tell me how to have a PV Linux with graphics?
I succesfully created some PV Linux with debootstrap and xen-tools.
But then all the images must be started with "xm create -c" command,
and everything then is console, with no X Window.
In short, I want to have PV Linux, but with X. How to do that?
Thanks,
H

LVM over Xen + Network
Hi,
We are planning to have LVM being used over a network of 3 h/w machines(500
GB Disk each)
Each hardware machine will have 2-3 domUs.
Can we store these domUs as a Logical Volumes stored across Network of these
3 machines?
Can one DomU exceed the 500 GB (physical drive size) and store say 1 TB of
data across the networked Physical Volumes?
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks and regards,

Xen backups using LVM Snapshots
Hi all,
I am running Xen 3.2-1 / 2.6.18 on Debian Etch (Dom0).
I setup a Dom0 with several DomUs (Linux). Each DomU disk is a LV partition. I have been seeing a few mails about backups and LVM and just wanted to make sure that what I am doing is correct.
Each DomU with a database has a cron that dumps the db with mysqldump. Later on, Dom0 will do an LVM Snapshot of all DomUs and then do a

performace of disks
Hello,
Queries:
1 - what is the best RAID (0,1,5,10,50) for server running very, very
VM instances ???
2 - and config of stripes/element sizes (32, 64, 128, 256, etc, KB) ??
3 - in the configuration of VM, exit one difference in performance
between image file (disk:/) or LVM partition (phy:/) ???
any URL or docs for read about this theme ?
mmm.. it is all for moment.
thanks

Simplest OS possible?
What is the simplest OS I can install in Xen, preferably Linux based, and
don''t tell me MS-DOS :). I have installed a minimal version of Fedora, but I
want something that is even less cluttered.
I have looked at Minix, but it is not fully supported. I need something
small, lightweight (doesn''t have to be multi-threaded or anything), that
will run small C and Assembler programs

Boot from OCFS2
Dear List,
I''m thinking about using xen productive in our datacenter, i''m still
testing around with it. Now I got some questions, just for basic
understanding, we got for example this environment:
2 Nodes
1 SCSI Pool server (Connected via scsi to both nodes)
Now I want to build a "cluster" so i would like to make this:
Node 1 -> Primary -| | --> domU

HA Xen on 2 servers!! No NFS, special hardware, DRBD or iSCSI...
I''ve been brainstorming...
I want to create a 2-node HA active/active cluster (In other words I want to run a handful of
DomUs on one node and a handful on another). In the event of a failure I want all DomUs to fail
over to the other node and start working immediately. I want absolutely no
single-points-of-failure. I want to do it with free software and no special hardware. I want

Xen and I/O Intensive Loads
Hi, folks,
I''m attempting to run an e-mail server on Xen. The e-mail system is Novell GroupWise, and it serves about 250 users. The disk volume for the e-mail is on my SAN, and I''ve attached the FC LUN to my Xen host, then used the "phy:/dev..." method to forward the disk through to the domU. I''m running into an issue with high I/O wait on the box (~250%)
