Analyzing java class loading with dtrace
Hi there, I am trying to diagnose a performance problem on a Sun T5120 running Solaris 10. I see general poor performance using Java and, in particular, loading classes. I have developed a simple java test that loads all of the classes in a Crystal Reports JAR file (around 7000 classes) which takes much longer on the T5120 (40 secs) than on a Core 2 Duo windows PC (5 secs). I recognise that this

[PATCH 1/3] Add ioctl to set per file 'compress' flag
An ioctl is needed to set compress flag (i.e. clear BTRFS_INODE_NOCOMPRESS flag) on per file basis. This patch adds that. Introduces a generic function to be used by subsequent patches. gtk3 update causing havoc
On my lab systems, the automatic updates were failing because of the problems with ipod libraries from EPEL being in the way. It turns out that was a good thing, because when I "fixed" it, a massive set of packages was updated, including the new gtk3. These packages are the ones causing problems, I think. gtk3-3.22.10-4.el7.x86_64 gtk3-devel-3.22.10-4.el7.x86_64 In the release notes,

FW: setting quota per user
Chris, the way I did the same thing a while back is by running edquota for each user upon creation of their account. From memory there is a switch that allows you to make a user's quota the same as anothers. So I setup a "template" user that had quota the way I liked and then used him as the template for all the other user accounts. I have extracted from the quota mini howto the

strange behaviour of smbpasswd after upgrade to samba.3.0.0
Hello, I have a serious problem after upgrading from samba.2.2.8a -> 3.0.0(1) We have security = domain in both samba-versions ; for "normal" domain users nothing has changed , but we need to authenticate external users , who are not members of our native win2k domain via the smbpasswd mechanism. The user got a login-screen and authenticated himself via his "unix-login" and

Currently I do the following: load R.binary into gdb run load shared object code using dyn.load() quit the R process from then on gdb seems to be smart enough such that the source code of the .so file is available and I can set breakpoints etc. however, when I restart the R process I get: (gdb) break printing.c:7 Breakpoint 1 at 0x407af036:

[PATCH RFC v1 00/52] drm/crtc: Rename struct drm_crtc::dev to drm_dev
Hello, while I debugged an issue in the imx-lcdc driver I was constantly irritated about struct drm_device pointer variables being named "dev" because with that name I usually expect a struct device pointer. I think there is a big benefit when these are all renamed to "drm_dev". I have no strong preference here though, so "drmdev" or "drm" are fine for me,
