I have a gif image in a folder. Whenever I have gthumb display it or a copy of it, gthumb goes into slideshow mode. Usually I can stop the show. It will not stop before going to the next image. but I only have a slideshow period to look at the troublemaker. Hello. I'm about to start an open university course on digital photography, we get a copy of adobe elements 6 as part of the course is about editing images. I'm intending to use gimp (ive had it on my system and thought its about time i used it) but im wondering if there is a way to get elements to download the images straight of my camera, like in windows where you can get applications

I returned from Bogot? and have a Folder with 272 photos that total 419.9 MB. I would like to email them to several people who were there for the concerts I attended. I have Picasa, gThumb (not really an Editor but I believe it can reduce the quality of photos) and The GIMP installed. Is there a way I can have a photo editor reduce all of them to VGA size, without doing that 272 times? The people who will receive them are using M$ Windoze. ...ely related to this topic, does anyone else find that CentOS6 desktop stability is lacking? Or did we just never notice because no monitoring was in place pre-C6? I'm refering to abrtd which is sending out a susprising amount of notifications about crashing desktop components like nautilus gthumb gnome-panel gvfsd-trash gvfsd-metadata gnome-settings-daemon, to name just a few.

Hi, I'm using CentOS 5.1 with the latest XFCE-4.4 desktop. I try to stick as much as possible to the UNIX tools philosophy, one app per task. For viewing images, I installed GQView. But right now, I wonder what I could probably use for handling photo imports from digital cameras. GThumb tends to be very unmodular, e. g. drawing in many GNOME dependencies, and besides that, I already have an image browser, so I don't need another one. Under Slackware, I've been using GTKam, a simple GTK frontend to gphoto2, which did the job just fine. But I'm surprised to find it...

...ately is Google Picasa. I vaguely remember having downloaded and installed it once. As far as I know, it's a closed-source Windows app that comes with a WINE emulation layer. Not exactly the open source spirit. As far as I'm concerned, I manage all my photos with some very basic tools: GThumb, Nautilus, GIMP, and that's it. Are there some tasks one performs with Picasa that one can't perform with these native programs? It is a fabulous machine for the job as the screen is incredibly sharp and the whole deal is better than say the Epson P3000 device. I use a pair of Canon 400D's and only shoot in Raw. The default image viewer (gThumb??) is fantastic as it does a slide show at the same time as it magnifies the image -A BRILLIANT combination for checking (and discarding) images in the field.
