yum grouplist error
I keep a local copy of the yum repository using rsync every night.
Commands like "yum update" still work, but lately I've been getting

available.Though it does not distinguish between base/manditory and
added in the installed list.
But yum list is not really helpful.
I would like to see something of what rpms are within what
group. then what rpms are not in any group. And which grou...

CentOS 6 yum Groupinstall vs Manual install
...I have a question regarding yum groupinstall vs just using yum install.
I have been reading tutorials online (for example how to run a Centos
LAMP). Most of the tutorials have examples to install httpd, mysql, etc
using yum install httpd....
The reason for this e-mail is that I noticed in yum grouplist that there
is an option to install Web Server, MySQL database server, etc.
Question: Is there any advantage to using yum groupinstall for a
webserver as opposed to using yum install httpd? I am just curious why
most online docs dont mention groupinstall and only reference installing
each app m...

Kickstart package groups
Hello,
I'm building another kickstart CD, minimal, and creating my own repository.
Is there any way I can get the list of files that a group (like @core o
@base) will install?
The idea is to put only those files in the repository to be included
later in the iso file, and only those files, nothing else.
Thanks in advance
Francisco

C8 and KDE
Goog morning to the list,
for all users that are interested about KDE Plasma on Centos 8 you can
install KDE from epel.
All packages are get from epel-playground and epel-testing and some
packages seems need to be build.
I run "yum grouplist" and see kde workspace available. I tried to
install it, reboot my machine and running startx a KDE plasma session
was correctly launched.
I think that this is a testing release and not ready for production but
if you want play you can try. Maybe you will find bug and can help EPEL
to fix...

installing kde using up2date
Hi,
I have already installed 4.2 on my laptop, I only chose GNOME at install
time.
I now need to use up2date to install kde (I wish to install twinkle
softphone).
What is the correct way to do that.
I did:
up2date kde*
up2date -u kde*
up2date -i kde*
It printed a listing of the packages but did not install them.
Thanks,
Jerry
