Samba and IEE1394
This might not be the correct group to post to, but maybe somone could tell me wich groupd it should go to (as I haven't found any good ones). I have Windows XP machines with IEE1394 (FireWire) LAN. Windows has built in support for OHCI compliant cards and can use them as a normal NIC, but with 400Mbit. This sollution is cheap and alot faster than normal a 100Mbit LAN. The problem...

...1000. I then ran the following commands (as root), to make sure all the files were changed to match: find / -uid 500 -exec chown 1000 {} \; -- and -- find / -gid 500 -exec chgrp 1000 {} \; Now, whenever I try to login as that regular user, I get the following error: id: can't find name for groupd ID 500 I have checked /etc/passwd and /etc/group and both files are correctly showing 1000 as the user and group ids. I didn't see the id isn't listed in either of the shadow files. All of the files in the user's home directory have the ownership and group set to id 1000. I have reboo...

About stepwise regression problem
First of all, I have GAMs noxd<-gam(newNOX~pressure+maxtemp+s(avetemp,bs="cr")+s(mintemp,bs="cr")+s(RH,bs="cr")+s(solar,bs="cr")+s(windspeed,bs="cr")+s(transport,bs="cr"),family=gaussian (link=log),groupD,methods=REML) Then I type " summary(noxd)". and show Family: gaussian Link function: log Formula: newNO2 ~ pressure + s(maxtemp, bs = "cr") + s(avetemp, bs = "cr") + s(mintemp, bs = "cr") + RH + s(solar, bs = "cr") + s(windspeed, bs...

Running asterisk as non-root: Zaptel Permission Probs
As a security precaution, we run asterisk as non-root. When zaptel /dev/ devices are created, they get owned:groupd as root:root with rw-r--r-- permissions. As such, chan_zap is unable to work due to bad permissions. Is it safe to simply change permissions on all /dev/zap/* stuff to rw-rw-rw ? Is there a better/safer alternative? Thanks, Matthew

change uid/god below 100
Hi. Only indirectly related to zfs. I need to test diskusage/performance on zfs shared via nfs. I have installed nevada b64a. Historically uid/gid for user www has been 16/16 but when I try to add uid/gid www via smc with the value 16 I''m not allowed to do so. I''m coming from a FreeBSD backgroup. Here I alter uid using vipw and edit /etc/group afterwards. -- regards Claus

Samba newbie question
I am a newbie to Samba and have read the HOWTO-SMB and README files. Before you say RTFM, I have some very basic questions. The goal for me is to use the NT systems local printer, CD-R and scanner devices. The SMB documents talk a lot about the Client and Server. The source I have downloaded will create a smbd and nmbd. 1. Do I need anything running on the NT? 2. Do I need any special options

Finding overlaps in vector
<posted & mailed> Dear all, I'm trying to solve the problem, of how to find clusters of values in a vector that are closer than a given value. Illustrated this might look as follows: vector <- c(0,0.45,1,2,3,3.25,3.33,3.75,4.1,5,6,6.45,7,7.1,8) When using '0.5' as the proximity requirement, the following groups would result: 0,0.45 3,3.25,3.33,3.75,4.1 6,6.45 7,7.1

[RFC] Splitting cluster.git into separate projects/trees
Hi everybody, as discussed and agreed at the Cluster Summit we need to split our tree to make life easier in the long run (etc. etc.). We need to decide how we want to do it and there are different approaches to that. I was able to think of 3. There might be more and I might not have taken everything into consideration so comments and ideas are welcome. At this point we haven't really
