Windows Vista and option in smb.conf
...ased on domain personal permissions are visible ! . As soon as
I remove 'hide unreadable' in the smb.conf section all the folders show
up. But this is not desirable .
Does anyone know why Vista behaves differently ? Some security setting ?

All possible linear models given multiple explaining variables
Hi,
I would like to have a script/function (or write one) that can calculate the
linear models for all possible combinations of explaining variables.
Eventually I would like to end up with a data base (or data frame) giving
for each model the R2, R2adj, AIC etc.
Currently I'm a bit stuck while writing my own script using the lm()
function from the base package. Also, I haven't fund any

creating subsets within lm()
Dear All,
the lm() function has the possibility to create a subset of the
possible explaining variables that you have. However, in the help
there is no example how to use this subset option. I tried the
following:
model<-lm(dependent.data$MPFD~.,data=explaining.data,subset=c(1,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,1,0,0))
MPFD is the dependent variable stored in the data frame

breaking multi-modal histograms down into combinations of unimodal distributions
Dear All,
Does anybody know if there is a functionality in R to break histograms
that show a clear bi-modal (or multi-modal) distribution into a series
of unimodal histograms that added up result in the original histogram?
I was thinking of using QQ-plots (for which tools are available in R),
and then observing the number of times the observed quantiles cross
the 1:1 line, but this only gives an

puppet 0.20.0: updated language syntax doesn''t work?
Hi,
I just upgraded to puppet 0.20.0 today after a short time playing with
0.19.3. The docs say to use the uppercase form for types but that
seems to break for me. When I updated the remotefile function to use
the new way, the puppet clients complain about objects not being
found. For example:

Has anyone done rollbacks with puppet?
The story goes that last night I pushed a change out, which
intentionally changed the way certain services where managed. The
change involved pushing out a few files, cronjobs, etc., which was okay
until it was discovered there was a bug with the service.

ghost jobs through samba
Hi,
I run Samba 2.2.7a on a FreeBSD 4.7 server. Samba is installed WITHOUT
CUPS support.
Recently I shared a printer on a Windows XP machine which is on the
network. Since that moment the "ghost" print jobs keep appearing at
random. The printer spool identifies them as "Low-level documents". All
they are is binary rubbish.
I think this has to do with Samba.
