Newbie (groan... !) Client Problem
I've studied the books, searched the list archives, etc. I suspect there is
someone who can just tell me one thing to tweek, so I humbly beg your
advice.
Situation:
I am playing with/learning Linux, intending to replace our two company
Netware servers sometime in the next 6 months. At home, I have an NT4.0/SPC
PDC, an NT4.0/SP6 docked laptop, and an HP server with RH7.1 or 7.2 (2.4.??

Samba and *groan* Windows XP Home problems!
Hi,
This has probably been covered before but after 4 hours of searching I'm
nearly at the point of throwing my XP machine out of the window!!
I have set up Samba (v 2.2.5) on my Red Hat 7.1 box. From the Red Hat box I
can see all the other computers on the network (other Linux machines, Win2k,
Windows ME and my Windows XP box), and get access to the shared drives on
them. The linux box can

OT: Slow browsers or slow connections?
I have AT&T (formerly SBC) DSL for my primary internet connection here, and
tonight it has been exceptionally, extraordinarily S - L - O - W.... Pages
that normally load in, at most, seconds, are taking several minutes to
locate, even common, frequent access pages like Google, Gmail, etc.
I called AT&T, of course, and all they know about is IE, which, as you can
probably guess, I rarely

Ugh on new bios.
Just so others know. On my EVGA motherboard the option to boot
removable media didn't work on my usb flash drive with syslinux on it.
Yesterday I tried updating the version of syslinux and seeing if that
would wok. Frustrated with it not working I moaned and groaned and my
brother decided to look for options in the bios that I might have
missed. He couldn't find anything. But I decided to

Overhead Paging Systems...
Hey all,
I know you all saw the topic and let out a groan. However, I understand
how to get an overhead paging system to work with respect *, however I am
now looking for a small(?) paging amp, that I could hook 3 or 4 horns to.
I would like to just have the * extention be routed to a soundcard and out
an output, so I would like an amp that is voice signal activated.
Has anyone found anything

error when extracting from a data frame
(As a noob to R, this is my first posting - yes yes, groans all around...)
I'm trying to extract certain rows from a data frame. I used the following to import data from a CSV txt file.
data <- read.table(file="data.txt", header=TRUE)
when I do this, my attempt to extract the data rows only from where the Station value equals 1?
data.station1 <- data[data$Station == 1]

Samba 4.4.5 segmentation fault on Darwin
First: Long-time samba user (since 2004), and my first reach-out to everyone, so thank you for the great work!
New issue: Both joining an AD domain and smbd fail with a segmentation fault on the Mac. I’ve tried to debug it the best I can but I’m not a C developer and can’t figure out what is the cause.
For smbd, I have the log errors and the stack trace from it which I hope will provide some

I also ran it on the other DCs and they all end with ?raise e?.

[LLVMdev] VC++: Cannot open include file: 'windows.h':No suchfileor directory
Hi Jeff and Morten,
I was just wondering if below wisdom is true, why not prefix every solution
and project file with VC71 in front of the file name to signal the case that
it is only designed for that specific IDE/tool?
This gives us room for comming up with other solution and project files for
another MS specific IDE/tool independt of each other.
Henrik.

syncing wall clock time from Dom0 to hypervisor
While in the upstream kernel I''m unable to find any use of XENPF_settime
(and the DOM0_SETTIME alias of it) at all, in the 2.6.18 tree (and the
forward ports of it) the function gets used only when ntp_synced()
returns true (and - that''s minor - when independent_wallclock is not
set).
It would however seem to me that this doesn''t cover the case where
the host clock gets

/etc/printcap for samba-shared printer...
Morning...
Just spent this evening getting printing setup off my FreeBSD
machine (oh, how I love Solaris at these times *groan*)...got it now so
that I can print directly from Netscape, color and graphics and all.
The printer is an HP 560c.
Now, I want to be able to print from my Windoze95 machine, and
have samba setup for that, as well as file sharing. If I setup my Windoze
machine such
