1.0rc3 problem w/ Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 on Mac OS X
...h a hang on saving messages to my sent-mail box over imap+ssl. I installed 1.0rc3 over my 1.0rc2 install on FreeBSD 5.3 in the same manner as all the other upgrades I've done. After checking my email, tbird became nonresponsive and I saw this repeating in my logs ad infinitum: Aug 2 10:17:10 grin dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<todd>, method=plain, rip=192.168.1.125, lip=64.142.74.74, TLS Aug 2 10:17:10 grin dovecot: IMAP(todd): Effective uid=1001, gid=1001 Aug 2 10:17:10 grin dovecot: IMAP(todd): mbox: data=/home/todd/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/todd Aug 2 10:17:10 grin dovecot: IMAP(t...

OT: hardware, IBM 3650 M2 won't power on
Just for grins, pull off the cover and look at the electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard. Look for ones with the tops pushed up instead of being flat. This can cause all sorts of odd behavior. Often the machine with a blown capacitor will continue to run till it is powered off. Mostly I see this on De...

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
I'm on 3.10.5. Its rock solid (at least with the fuse mount <Grin>) We are also typically on a somewhat slower GlusterFS LAN network (bonded 2x1G, jumbo frames) so that may be a factor. I'll try to setup a trusted pool to test libgfapi soon. I'm curious as to how much faster it is, but the fuse mount is fast enough, dirt simple to use, and just wo...

Finally winbind on RH9 working, but why ?
Hi, maybe (probably ??) it's me, but it took me more than a week to get winbindd working on Redhat 9. It works now after changing a parameter in smb.conf, but I have NO idea why. Maybe some of you already had the same problem. If so, PLEASE clearify ! Thanks... PS as you will see later, getent group also does not work. This is an independent problem I think... can it have something to do

[BUMP] conditional require? conditional action code?
Greetings all. I have some controller code that uses win32ole (only available on windows). This code is now solid, and I''d now like to resume development on (any) other OS(grin). But alas, the controller bails because the OS specific library can''t be found. Can I conditionally specify action code compilation (and a require ''win32ole'') based on OS or maybe an environment variable? (I''m thinking C #IFDEFs) Or perhaps an empty stub...

Mail has quit working
Added back the IPV6 to /etc/hosts a couple days ago for grins and giggles. No longer getting IPV6 errors in logwatch for bind. Everything working. I think removing my ISP's nameservers from /etc/resolv.conf was the fix. They have been in there forever so still have my fingers crossed. Again, many thanks!!

chopped audio problem
I do use metadate since i need people to see the titles. I use livecast in mixer mode. The chopping starts right away I don't use VBR (I commented it out at least). The mp3's are made with XING audiocatalyst (for windows) so I don't really know. Sorry. Asterisk 1.2.6, VMWare, & Playback/Background GSM prompts
...layback of sounds (GSM format) such as an ivr greetings, sound terrible. Choppy, uneven, broken audio, etc to the caller. I have a fairly fast system as the host: dual core AMD X2, 2GB mem, running SMP 64-bit centos-4.2. Asterisk guest OS is centos-4.2 32bit. No other guests are running. Just for grins, I also installed Asterisk on a lowly 3-year old AMD Duron system (no VMWare). Using the same Asterisk config files and sound files as above, but in this case the audio playback (using the Asterisk 'background"' command) sounds perfect. Anyone else notice this when using Asterisk wit...

Templates and arrays
I''m in the process of documenting templates right now, and I figured I should see what happens when you use them with arrays: $ cat ~/bin/test.pp $values = [this, is, an, array, of, values] $content = template("/tmp/templates/testing.erb") file { "/tmp/temtest": content => $content } $ cat /tmp/templates/testing.erb <% values.each do |val| %> I got

Finding length (time) of encoded birstream
...oder and playback code working but I have one final issue to resolve: finding the play time for the Vorbis bitstream that is being played back. I used the example_encode and example_decode code as the initial basis for my code model (but it has really changes a bunch since I started the project <grin>). Anyway, can someone inform me how I can get this information from the file using the OGG, VORBIS or VORBISENC DLL interfaces? I'd rather not add any new interfaces to get this information. TIA. Stereo voice not being retained
Hello, I've been using Opus on an STM32 M4 platform for speech coding in mono mode. I thought I'd try stereo for grins to see if I can handle the CPU load, and I'm getting a return code of -1 from opus_decode_float (using CBR and 40ms frames). I decided to try the opusenc and opusdec tools to just see how the command line apps would behave. I am getting decoded audio, but I am losing the stereo separation....

puppetd.pid and SMF woes
So when puppetd crashes/whatever, and a pid file is left behind, SMF in Solaris will try restarting puppet, but fail. And then it sits there restarting it forever. I''m not sure if I can adjust the flap detection in SMF.. it isn''t disabling the service for "restarting too quickly" because it takes so long to start. Probably because I''m NFS-mounting ruby. The

why no recent bind update for CentOS 6?
...t. Didn?t mean to complain TOO loudly? you guys do a great job with what you have to work with from upstream. (Not just meaning RH, but all the never-ending updates from all their upstreams. Because you know? ?software is getting better!?? ROFLMAO? 20 years of hearing that? hasn?t come true yet! GRIN!) I certainly wouldn?t mind if my employer wasn?t too cheap to buy the real deal from RH and have all the nice patching and auditing tools, but alas? it is what it is. At least we have CentOS! Plus I?m dumb enough not to mandate it, trying to be the ?good guy? and save them some $. (GRIN) I was...
