form_remote_upload
...just upgraded rails to 1.1.2, and form_remote_upload now prevents my
application.rhtml layout from being processed. I''m not sure if the problem
lies with v 1.1.2, or if upgrading the gems screwed stuff up. Anybody have
any ideas?

newbie question: missing template
Hi
I''m new to this forum and new to Rails so excuse me if this is a daft
question.
I''m following the ONLamp.com tuturial and all has been well untill
changing the template for the recipes. I have followed the instructions
and added this code to the controller:

def list
@recipes = Recipe.find_all

nOOb question: How to use find_all with form input data
Hello,
I''m having a problem utilizing the find_all method with a value from a
form. I keep getting the following error:
Mysql::Error: #42S22Unknown column ''category_id11'' in ''where clause'':

The controller seems to be getting the correct data, but my key and

put variable in session each time any controller runs?
Hi -- well, that''s what I''m trying to do. Does anyone know what the
best way to do it is? I have three controllers, each one has a hidden
tag, and I want each one to salt its respective tag with the name of
the action in effect, at the time that action runs, for every action
in the controller.

clipping off words inside a vector of strings
Hi,
I have a vector of strings (class character) with 6 elements (length
6). I call it 'names'.
"Graham Chapman"
"John Cleese"

"Eric Idle"
"Terry Jones"
"Michael Palin"
And I want to turn it into another vector of strings called

Can''t get rails working
I am trying to set up rails and am having problems. I have googled
everything I could think of, but have not found my problem. Here are my
specs.
Gentoo Linux 2006.0
Apache 2.2
Ruby 1.8.4
Gems 1.8
Rails 1.1.2
mod_fcgid 1.08
When I try to access my test rails app through the webserver, I get the
following error in the error.log (after seeing a html 500 error on the
page).

Where to recruit Ruby on Rails developers?
Anyone have suggestions on where to recruit Ruby on Rails developers?
My startup''s in Berkeley, CA and I''m looking for a talented technical
lead. I''ve tried LinkedIn and Craigslist but the pickings are slim. This
project provides an opportunity to use OpenLaszlo.

close but no cigar
Hi Everyone: It turns out that there's still a small ( I hope ) problem.
I'm close but that only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.
Here's my problem: When trying to load a package that I am writing, the
load is looking for the packageDescription function in the utils package
but not finding the utils package. I looked on cran and utils is not there
which makes me think that it should have been part of the build. But th...

Ruby, Rails & Linux - Which distro ??
Hi,
I''ve been doing most of my initial playing with rails on a windows
system - but wish to switch to a dedicated linux box for this.
Are there any particular distro''s to avoid / recommend. I prefer debian
for my other stuff, but thought i''d ask before going ahead. :)
Cheers

The only thing I'd like to discuss is your reason for not adding a
dual license to make your code as usable and probably as ubiquitous as
perl. And you have not mentioned anything about how that might hurt
you.

Patch : Fix one more Linux PowerPC problem
Josh,
Once more patch. The gcc on Linux PowerPC does not have the
-force_cpusubtype_ALL flag. On the Debian man page, that
compiler option is listed as being Darwin specific.
