surprising behaviour of "bgroup": sets all in greek letters
Dear R user community
I wanted to use "bgroup" for plotting a math formula with
a big "{" on the left, and nothing on the right.
i used
text( 10, 10, pos=4, cex=1.8, expression(F(x) == bgroup("{", x, "")), ...)
on a 40 x 20 plot.
surprisingly,
bgroup sets "Phi(xi) = { xi"

Deleting multiple variables
Hi All,
i have searched the web for a simple solution but have been unable to find
one. Can anyone recommend a neat way of deleting multiple variable?
I see, i need to use dataframe$VAR<-NULL to get rid of one variable,
In my situation i need to delete all vars between two points.
I've used the 'which' function to find these out and have assigned to myvar

oh323.conf question
...reover, I think the keyword alias is related to the phone calling more
than to the ip address, and it could be anything...
In other terms, what I have to do is to send all the calls from one IP
Address to a zap group,
and all the calls coming from another IP to another zap group.
Any help will be gratly appreciated,
Andrea

Package/command for creating a table of panel models ?
Hello Everyone
(Quick) question: Does anyone know a package/command or simply a way of
creating a table of different panel data estimations (estimated using
/*plm()*/ ) just as *mtable()* does for models estimated with /*lm()*/?
It seems *mtable* (and *apsrtable* equally) only support /*lm*/ and some
other classes but unfortunately not /*plm*/. I am pretty sure others must
have encountered this

How to read several text files at once!
Dear R users,
I am a beginner in R. I have 506 text files (data frame) in one folder namely DATA. The files are called A1 to A253 (253 files) and B1 to B253 (another 253 files). Each file has two columns; V1 (row number)
and V2 (the value for each row name). Now I would like to add the values of
V2 in each A-file with its relative value in B-file and save it as a
new data frame named as C (e.g. C1

merging to data.frames whose columns are different but follow a pattern.
Hi,
I'm working with panel data from the Swiss Houshold Panel (SHP). The data i
got came in the following way:
1.) 12 *different* /individual/ files - one for each year .
2.) 12 *different* /houshold/ files - again: one for each year
Each file came in the SPSS format (.sav). I implemented all the files in R
an managed (via rename, cbind, rbind, merge etc.) to get *two* files.
The first file
