macchiato -- so much for the markdown grapevine
so much for the markdown listserve grapevine... it ends up that there has been a markdown-savvy display-in-real-time app for a couple months now, by the name of "macchiato", coded by a college kid. > http://getmacchiato.com > http://kswizz.com/post/8624456381/macchiato > http://mac.onedayoneapp.com/macchiato/...

Audio Problems - Operating System??
...udio files, but it didn't help the audio quality. I've also tried putting my audio files on a RAM Drive and still have the same problem. I've also slimmed my asterisk system down to load only the modules that I am using via modules.conf. Now my question. I've heard through the grapevine that the Operating system running Asterisk can make a big difference in performance. I am currently running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. A friend of mine actually talked to someone at Digium about this specific problem and they told him -not- to run SuSE. Is this correct? Has anyone els...

Complete newbie - create microarray image from data file?
Hey So sorry to be a total newbie, but i'm just finding my feet with R. I heard on the grapevine i could recreate a scanned microarray image, or at least get a good graphic of it from a just a data file. I have .txt files for illumina beadarrays but no images cos the service we used didn't send them. The 'beadarray' package seems to require TIFFs to get the graphic output. Does...

R on AIX?
...so, is there any kind of cribsheet or other underground documentation that we could consult to get around any AIX peculiarities? Given IBM's long-term interest in the Life Sciences, it seems hard to believe that R would not be supported on this platform, but that is what we heard through the grapevine. Thanks for any thoughts/help with this. - Susan -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Susan R. RHEL6 domU migrate issues w/ higher to lower frequency CPU''s
...an issue with going from a higher CPU frequency system to a lower CPU frequency system. This is using the stock RHEL6 kernel ''vmlinuz-2.6.32-71.7.1.el6.x86_64''. Anybody have suggestions on the cause or a workaround? Experience this issue too? I''ve heard through the grapevine that this bug is also confirmed with RHEL6 domU''s on XCP 1.0. [LLVMdev] About the "debugger target"
While I've already posted reviews for the initial patches for this (see http://reviews.llvm.org/D8506 and http://reviews.llvm.org/D8599), the grapevine suggests I should post a lengthier description of my intent for the "debugger target." The idea was prompted by a suggestion from Eric Christopher, and I'm running with it. Various bits of the DWARF we produce are conditional on the target platform, or on command-line options with...

CERN using RHEL/CentOS?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi list, I just did my daily news scan and saw some screenshots that illustrate the press release [0] announcing the first collisions at the LHC. Those screenshots show windows and buttons that exactly match my CentOS GNOME Desktop [1]. AFAIK, SuSE/Novell has different skins, as has (Open)Solaris and AIX, for instance. So, has there anybody more

Differences from upstream RHEL
In my experience software compiled for RHEL "just work" with Centos and I don't remember any case where it didn't. I have however heard whisperings on a grapevine that RH may want to try and make future versions of Centos slightly incompatible with RHEL but these are probably just whisperings. If you software vendor will not support Centos as RHEL then they probably need a good LARTing. On 11 November 2015 at 22:52, J Martin Rushton < martinrushton56 a...

turnpike 6 - a challenge for i cognoscenti, or a lost cause
The beta version of turnpike 6 is out. I'm using it here, but under win4lin. A big point of the new version is that it uses windows explorer, and I had heard on the grapevine that it was therefore going to be a problem proggie for wine. I've tried running the v6 'connect' program under wine - that works fine (downloads a new newsgroup list, gets me an e-mail - when WILL I be able to look at it) But launching the reader is greeted by contemptuous silen...

Asterisk 16.23.0 strange issue where Answer request succeeds and able to perform actions but Asterisk never sent 200 OK to answer call
...Asterisk is in a bizarre state where it thinks it is handling the call, but it really isn't. Reports are this happened to several calls. Eventually, they restarted the entire VM and everything started working well. We think this may be caused by something their switch is doing. Through the grapevine, heard they had some network issue but don't know the details of their switches and architecture for calls coming into Asterisk. We noticed we are seeing two INVITEs happen with the same Call-ID, but 2 additional Record-Route header/value pairs and 3 additional Via header/value pairs. At lea...

Location of xgraphics routines
Hi I have an application that uses the Xwindows graphics library. Things like XOpenDisplay XDrawLine XCreateSimpleWindow XDrawString and many more Under all the CENTOS 4.X systems these were automatically loaded. I dont have these loaded under my CENTOS 5 system. I get a heap of undefined references when I compile the code. Could someone tell me, point me, where these routines now reside on
